Disgrace. Needs a review from booking.com fast
Nothing we never got to stay there. The only thing I can say positive about the alternative hotel, and I struggled to find anything, is that it had electric gates on the secure parking. A good coffee maker in the room ( shame I only like tea )
When we got there the place was closed down. A note in french told us to go to another hotel further down the road. The owner said they were both his and without being rude said he decided where we would stay, as he was a large man with a very big ( SMELLY)dog, and we had no other option we stayed at Hotel Le val Saint Hilaire. This was also on booking.com but again nothing like advertised. Very run down and unkempt. ( see pictures) mouldy oranges at breakfast, dirty linen bags were blocking the way to our room and still there when we left the next day. The shower looked newly tiled bit dirty inside. Overflowing ashtrays and bins all around the courtyard. Extremely disappointed not as advertised at all PLEASE update your advert for this place. A full refund would be appreciated.😤

Pleasant
Room was ok, to be expected for a reasonable budget hotel. Location is nice, very close to the center and the market that we came to visit. Great fun are the swallows that have built their nests just outside of the windows.
Some of the traffic on the road was very noisy, and when closing the windows for the night the temperature and humidity in the room went up sky high. It would look better if the bird excrements would be cleaned up outside the windows; actually previous occupants of our non-smoking room had apparently used the piles as ashtray too, so there were also cigarette butts just outside the window.

Disappointing. Room was fine. Breakfast poor. Some staff very unhelpful.
Checking in at another hotel 200m up the road from the actual hotel - this was awkward with bikes as we had to check in to get the keys, walk back to the actual hotel, unload the bikes, then ride to the check-in hotel to securely part the bikes, then walk back to the hotel - tiring after a days motorbike riding. The hotel had no notices whatsoever explaining where to check in - we had to hang around until we saw other guests and they told us where to go and what to do. The prices stated on a display board in the actual hotel were 90 Euros for the room and breakfast 14 Euros but this is what we were charged for the room only (104 Euros) – the hotel demanded an extra 14 Euros for breakfast plus city tax. The chap on service at breakfast was rude and unhelpful. Firstly part of the cereal dispenser fell into my cereal along with the cereal which I only discovered when eating it. There was no cold milk – I asked for some and he told me to use the hot milk from the coffee machine. There was only one bottle of water for the entire breakfast restaurant – we asked for some more and eventually he replenished the water bottle but not with a new bottle, instead he filled the bottle from the tap so it was tap water not bottled water. There wasn’t any bacon or sausages – only eggs that we could boil ourselves – that was it for hot food. The croissants ran out quickly so the breakfast was incredibly poor – especially as we believed we’d been charged twice for it. Finally, we wanted to have some evening drinks at the check-in hotel and despite asking twice nobody came to server us so we left.

found the staff rude and we weren’t told that we had to register in a different hotel to get the keys
location was about the only positive
rooms are very dated and noisy, breakfast was 100m down the road in a different hotel and it was very basic. the staff were unhelpful. it was also expensive

this hotel is closed
This hotel is closed. If you book here you will actually stay at Hotel Val St Hilaire - which sells for 15 euro less on booking .com This is clearly not a new arrangement, and I think it is quite cheeky to not announce the changed address ( or acknowledge the price difference) however hotel Val St Hilaire was perfectly pleasant
The notice that the stay will not be at Hotel Roosevelt but a few doors down at Hotel Val St Hilaire was small , and only in French. I missed it when first looking , and was puzzled by the shabby look of the closed front I think it was rude not to notify guests in advance for this arrangement The promised restaurant was not open at either hotel

Disappointing - not up to the standard of the average Logis (we have stayed in 9).
The location was, in theory, very pleasant; much had been done since the devastating floods of January 1995 to tidy/smarten up the waterfront. The back-streets were somewhat decayed in places but there were some attractive shops and several good places to eat. A long walk across the bridge took you to a small, but good supermarket. Carrefour had abandoned their premises in the town centre. A pleasant square with two monuments - one a fine war-memorial - offered plenty of parking if the limited parking nearer the hotel was full. The breakfasts were adequate, but clearly, there had been a drop in clientele. An evening meal, taken, like the breakfasts, at the other Logis, was mediocre and the menu was limited in scope. The staff were friendly, but seemed to be juggling a lot of inconvenient booking and service arrangements - apparently trying to run 2 hotels in parallel but with reduced staff and budget for maintenance. The rooms for eating and the terrasse at the front were tidy but ordinary; the rear section looked out over a patio garden with tired-looking decking. Many people are regretting decking as a quick fix! The location has a history worth exploring and there are some interesting places to visit. You will be welcomed to Belgium/France on your phone many times if you go very far!
The hotel was - at least for the time being - not functioning as a hotel, merely as a dormitory annex to the nearest other Logis along the road - where we were sent by a notice on the door on arrival. It is possible that the apparent non-viability of the establishment was due to Covid inhibiting trade. The recent opening of a "Budget" Ibis just outside the town may also have been a factor. Sadly, the drought and evident watering restrictions meant that almost all the potted plants and shrubs along the road were dead or withered. The building was oppressively warm - probably because of the 2 large drinks refrigeration units in the hallway downstairs which churned out heat constantly. These units were stocked - but locked and not accessed during our stay The worst aspect was the heavy traffic - especially very early in the morning; although he building did not shake, the roar of lorries going past the front windows could not be adequately screened out with the shutters and double-glazing. Clearly, government grants had not extended to creating a ring-road to protect the several (some very nice) cafes and restaurants from noise. The shower-washing-toilet unit was a pre-fabricated "cell"; it had no extractor fan; with the windows closed, this made for a smelly stay. the shower curtain sliders were damaged and a bodge had to be arranged to contain the spray. The lowest-level possible light bulbs made reading difficult. This economy measure could be replaced by a minuterie. Likewise, the corridor upstairs was dim to an unsafe extent; it was difficult to see the lock to fit the room key in.
