Good room, nice bar and fun dinner
The hotel could do with a "spruce up"
9.0 / 10.0
Loved the meal we had in the restaurant, staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Be careful hanging long dresses in the wardrobe, there may be a bottle of scent with diffuser sticks in the bottom hiding behind the ironing board.
We found out the hard way next morning, again the front desk were as helpful as they could be under the circumstances and this is not a complaint just a suggestion to people to check the bottom of the wardrobe before hanging long items.

Everything was awesome. I have not stayed in a better hotel sub £200 per night.
Local kids with noisy cars at night. Not the hotel's fault

Breakfast was ok. Room not too bad.
We asked for a room on the ground floor due to bringing heavy tenpin bowling balls with us. Told the room was just down the stairs by reception, but no down the stairs round the corner down more stairs and it went on. If we knew we wouldn’t have booked. Reception staff didnt tell us the truth re the stairs. Was horrendous carrying the ball 100 pound weight of them. Then having to carry them up the stairs when we left!

Lovely room, very comfortable bed and bedding. Lovely bath.
Dinner was excellent.
Breakfast was ok, although my cooked choice had run out and the plates were cold.
As above.

Location and character are excellent. The room was also very good but almost inaccessible to my wife who has mobility issues
Our room was well away from the main building and totally unsuitable for my wife who has mobility issues. We had to go outdoors in the rain on poorly lit path, through 2 doorways and up a wet and slippery metal stairs to room 68 called the hayloft.

The efficiently of checking in , the location, the view from our room was lovely
The distance of our room from the facilities especially someone whohas breathing issues
The space in the bathroom was tiny, hot tap water was super hot and no warning signs to state very hot.
The drinks were over priced for non branded drinks
The decor could do with updating as you can see damp in the rooms we seen.
The breakfast was poor over cooked tasteless, limited or little choice on the pantry , drinks and wasn't restocked.
The sleep wasn't great but bed softness you can please everyone

We we told our breakfast was included in the price, but it was not .Our room was cold because they had not put on radiators

Amazing hotel, great staff and food, only downside is the included breakfast isn’t enough to fill a child.

The location was really easy to get to with plenty of easy parking
Unfortunately for us there was a wedding which was not an issue in itself however in between their ceremony and dinner they did not have a separate room so they were also in the bar area which has the only comfy sofa seating. There was a room just off the bar/ lounge area which they could of used quite easily which would have been ideal so that those already in the bar /lounge area did not feel that they had to leave like others did and we nearly did as felt a little hemmed in as they stood all around us and it got very noisy not relaxing which is what we wanted. Even some of the guests commented to us on leaving that we could now relax again. Otherwise the wedding did not affect our stay at all and would go again except for that one thing that there needs to be an alternative room for residents and wedding guests in that in between time especially as there is a perfectly good room next door with easy access to the bar and seating for the wedding guests as required without disturbing the guests/residents of the hotel

Beautiful period property with loads of original features, big comfy rooms, clean bathrooms, loved my stay

The hotel is beautiful and set in gorgeous grounds. The staff were friendly. Room was small but had everything that was needed.
Although the table service was a nice idea at breakfast, there wasn’t enough staff to keep on track and replenish the ‘help yourself’ options.
The rooms were not well sound proofed and I could hear other guests in the surrounding rooms.

Location and welcome
The floors were very thin, when we complained we were told that it would be “passed on”
The floors in the new part where we were staying were paper thin and we could hear everything

The building, the location
Breakfast was very low quality. Expensive for what it was. Not worth it

Lovely old historic property which has excellent, attentive and professional staff . Property has historic grade status and therefore, some parts of the building are unable to have 21st C updates. However, despite this had a very nice stay and would return again.

Only one word to describe it and that’s EXCEPTIONAL. From the welcome, the decor, the bedroom and the food.
That unfortunately I was only staying for one night.

Location ti motorway, age of property, petiod features, comfortable.
No lift. No shelves in bathroom for toiletries, tv in the middle of the room on a shelf, room 12.
Understaffed at breakfast. Slow service at Breakfast which was overcooked. Nit as good as usual.

Very friendly staff and great location
The food was ok but sadly cheap ingredients. Breakfast was disappointing as the bacon was awful and very cheap as with the sausages. Being a foodie I pickup on poor quality food.
The bed was to short and not very wide for two adults, my 5.2 wife’s feet almost hung over the end.
There was no hot water in the morning around 9am for a shower.
The bathroom fan went on for around 20 minutes after switching the light off and was terribly loud so when you’re trying to get back to sleep and concord is attempting takeoff in the bathroom you find yourself not going back to sleep.

Everything! Staff, location, food, rooms, and the history behind the building all was amazing. Definitely coming back here! Me and my father enjoyed every single bit of the trip! Thank you to everyone that made our stay special ❤️
Nothing major, just poor tv connection/signal. Couldn’t really watch Netflix or any other apps as connection kept failing/signal was poor.

All good.
Beds a little uncomfortable.

Lovely historic hotel. Beautifully presented. Comfy bar area with sofas, open fire and tasty snacks.
We stayed twice - once in the house and once in converted stable. Both were really keenly priced compared to the normal tariff and so were exceptional value. Very nice hotel.
Staying in a building across the car park from the main house in November.

A grand old property that’s very tired in places & needs refreshing
Breakfast chef couldn’t get a poached egg right! & the waitress trying to pass it off as ‘quite runny’, poor show, just don’t need that hassle first thing in the morning.
8.0 / 10.0
Location of hotel (set back from the road)
Front lounge with fire
Rear facing room with large bed
Bathroom shower tray very slippery (no grip on tray and no bath mat). Also no grab handle.
Shower head (had held) attached to the post - difficult to use as locked in that placement,
Hard to use shower when not wanting to get hair wet
Nowhere to put toiletries in shower.
Bathroom lighting very poor.

Hotel was understaffed. Receptionist was rarely at the desk as she was running around sorting everything from food issues to bar and disgruntled visitors.
The heating in the rooms was cold, decoration dated, couldnt fit us in for supper one night and the newer part of the house was very tired.

Location was good
Too many people at breakfast so difficult to get the food you wanted.

Amazing property and facilities. Our room was excellent. A little out of the way from the main hotel, but we quite liked that. And the entrance courtyard was very pleasant.
Convenient parking.
Stylish bar and lounge area.
Great atmosphere and stylish décor.
I cannot fault the cleanliness of the room and bathroom. Great extras in the room, from water to toiletries and tea/coffee items. Lots of lovely little touches throughout the room. The bed and bedding were very comfortable. Dressing gown and slippers also a lovely touch.
We ate in the restaurant in the evening, and both the food and service were of an excellent, high standard. The steak was amazing. Lovely little walkway to the room as well.
Friendly, professional, and helpful staff.
Would happily return and recommend.
I leave these negatives as advice to the hotel rather than a complaint...
Initially, our room seemed quite out of the way and difficult to find. We found ourselves walking in and out of the wrong corridors and outside areas. It could be a little better signposted.
On entering the room the first thing to hit us was the insane heat temperature!!! All radiators turned on to full potential and the room was far too hot... We had the windows wide open whist getting ready!
I believe our room was recently refurbished, but there are some finishing touches missing: a full-length mirror—there’s plenty of space for one in the bathroom or the spacious hallway—and a makeup/hair mirror at the dressing table. The current mirror is in the wrong place, positioned on the left-hand wall and far too high.
The dressing table also has the tea/coffee items on it, so there’s not much room to put makeup, a hairdryer, etc. The room is quite near the road, so if the bedroom door to the hallway is open, you can hear a lot of traffic noise, which can’t really be helped. Unfortunately, on the night we stayed, there were roadworks through the night.
The steps to the room are metal and steep. It was very wet on our arrival day, and the steps were quite slippery and lethal, especially when carrying luggage up. I had the same issue going down them in the evening in high heels. There was also nowhere near enough lighting on the steps in the dark..... Be aware of this if booking this room as could be a major problem for some.

Beautiful room with facilities. Really felt like I was in the countryside. Stunning room
The restaurant didn't quite have enough space for all guests. So we waited a while. And we didn't have everything available. And then unfortunately our order got lost. However, the host was very apologetic and asked us what we wanted and tried it source it.

This hotel is very impressive in terms of its appearance, both outside and in, with a comfortable lounge and bar area, and lovely gardens. Our room, although quite small, was comfortable and clean. All the staff we had dealings with were very nice.
Firstly, let me say that I am not a serial complainer and looking at the recent reviews it would appear that we were unlucky with our stay. On entering our bedroom, we noticed that there was only one set of towels. We tried to phone down to reception but the phone line was completely dead. I only mention this because it struck me as a potential hazard in case of an emergency, such as illness or a fire. We booked a table for dinner as the menu looked really nice, including venison haunch which is my favourite. We ordered at a little after 8 pm. Our meals arrived at 8.45 pm. My venison was cold and rather more raw than the "blush" I had been promised. In contrast, my husband's meal had clearly been microwaved, although the accompanying peas were cold. I send mine back to the kitchen and it was "flashed under the grill", but remained inedible. I ate the now rather crispy potatoes. My husband was unimpressed with his lamb shepherd's pie, saying it was tasteless. We were offered a replacement meal, but as it was now rather late and we were doubtful of what might be provided, we opted for cheese and biscuits. On piece of cheese, I would estimate at around 30g, with three biscuits and a side of chutney, was £4.00. It didn't go far. However, the mains were deducted from our bill, although the cheese was not! There was a function in the room below, so I sympathise with the kitchen staff, but apart from preparing the venison, our meals should have been quick and easy to serve, and certainly not take 45 minutes. The next morning we had breakfast which was very nice, although again service was somewhat slow and the person on the next table sent his back as it was cold. I am fully aware that hospitality is a difficult business and cannot fault the front of house staff who were very apologetic and couldn't have been nicer.
