Vintage Rooms Lange Haven

We booked this room based on its appearance, and in that regard there was nothing wrong with it. We struggled to open the door with the code, so we rang the main entrance. A man opened the door, but he didn’t seem very welcoming. The room itself looked nice, but we noticed there was a curtain in the bathroom, and behind it a glass wall with some pallets on the other side. There were people walking around there who, in our opinion, lived there. It didn’t seem like a space we had access to. It was also quite noisy. In the morning we woke up because people were walking around there early, and you could hear a lot. We addressed this with the host and asked if it was possible to move back to our initial room (the one we originally booked but “upgraded” to a bigger one). We also explained why, which was not appreciated. We received a sarcastic answer with a no. When we left the room to get something to eat, the same man who opened the door for us approached us and said, “I heard you don’t like the room.” We were surprised he confronted us about this, and then he said, “Well, good thing you are leaving tomorrow”. We already felt like guests in someone’s home, because several people seemed to be living there. We also made it clear that the room itself wasn’t the problem; the problem was that people seemed to be living there who clearly weren’t interested in having guests around. This should have been mentioned. This also didn’t seem to be acknowledged. We eventually concluded that we no longer wanted to stay because of the atmosphere and asked several times if they could compensate us for one night so we could leave earlier. Again, we got a no. We were allowed to stay one “free” night in the suite, where we didn’t hear other people, but writing off the night we didn’t stay was not an option. We even received a message saying it was better that we were leaving early, because they didn’t want people “like us.”

Of course, we also expressed our frustrations, but we mostly find it very disappointing that no compensation was possible and that our anniversary now feels ruined. If the suite is available, it obviously doesn’t cost them anything to offer it to us and pretend that’s goodwill. But if they really cared, they could have compensated us in a way that actually meant something. Even 50% off that one night would have been something. Now we paid 240 euro for one night. - Besides that, the shower is only warm for a short time; you can’t take two proper showers in a row, because you’ll end up standing under cold water. - The bed also feels musty and is extremely soft, so if you have back issues, this is definitely not recommended. - The pillows are rock hard and barely count as pillows. - The garden is also very messy, not like the pictures. - If you are having problems, nobody is available in the evening to help/ response time is slow.

Very well situated. Wonderfully different. Good access to the well-equipped kitchen. The suite’s bedroom was amazing. Lovely view out of the very clean windows.

The memory foam pillows are extremely hard and not comfortable. The Studio smelled of smoke to the left of the door to the street, despite the no smoking policy.

Location is fantastic! The view from our room was the channel, really beautiful, modern but classic style, we enjoyed the garden, Louis the owner is very friendly. The common areas like kitchen and garden made us meet the other guests so this was also really nice.

Nice garden opening and location. Good to have a fridge in the room, there was a proper table and 2 chairs/stools. Clean room.

Bathroom has no door (there is a cupboard that acts as one but does not cover the entire opening, so you can literally see and smell whatever happens there). There s no shower door or curtain either, all the humidity just drains in the entire room. The bathroom light switch - i've never seem something so weird and cheap. There s a huge old piano which could easily be replaced by a more convenient wardrobe, or just add another wardrobe next to it in the place of the crate shelf!? Kitchen was average clean, common areas just a bit weird overall and with a very cheap feeling.

Lovely experience, the shared kitchen was clean and well organised and a nice place to chat to other residents. The location is absolutely beautiful and a great place to walk around and explore
