Very friendly host. He gave me a detailed tour of the machiya. The place was fun to stay even when alone and equipped with washing machine/dryer, heating/cooling AC, Wi-Fi etc. It is very quiet. Incredible value for its price, you basically get the entire house with the price of a budget hotel.
There are not many convenient stores near it. Grab some food for dinner/breakfast beforehand.

Appeared cute from the outside. The single beds were comfortable. It was noisy at night
The tatami room and futon was smelly. The toilet was downstairs down very steep stairs. The heating had thoughtfully been put in but it was a very warm day.
