Brilliant

Breakfast was typically French (croissants and French bread and jam) plus the bonus of deliciously light chocolate cake - we took one piece with us for the journey! Jean-Francois was very welcoming and we found the setting fascinating: an old metal smithy which had been in his family for generations, lots of original tools on display in the dining room.

Nothing! Maybe a few teabags and coffee sachets would have been nice.

Fabulous suite of rooms in a traditional French farmhouse. Within walking distance of local bars and restauraunts. Friendly staff. Secure off road parking. Beautiful location.

A good stop off point.

The host was welcoming and showed us our room, the lounge and where breakfast was held. The room was large with a big, comfortable bed. Breakfast was good with a lovely slice of chocolate cake!

We weren't sure which part of the building Monsieur was in to ask about heating. The bathroom was very dated.

Very small arrival window. Not there on arrival. Suggest you book elsewhere

I booked this as an overnight stop for myself and daughter as we were travelling through the area. There is a very tight arrival window which wasn't well communicated. We arrived slightly late and called the property several times but had no response. We had to find last minute alternative accomodation for the night which was not ideal. The property have been contacted directly and through Booking.com and are uninterested in discussing the issues or even issuing a partical refund although they had no cleaning costs or breakfast to supply. I would avoid.

Very large room plus a big bathroom and kitchen. The bed was very comfortable. Great location, very pretty area.

Simple but adequate breakfast, in keeping with the room charge. You could opt for an indoor or outdoor breakfast. The property occupies an old forge and the breakfast room was steeped in metal working antiquities. A beautifully maintained property. Owner was very welcoming and shared a history of the house. Situated in a quiet location by the river. Lovely area for an evening stroll. Secure parking within the property boundaries with a gate locked at night. We were very impressed. Salbris is ideally situated for an overnight stay between Calais and the southn of France.

No complaints. Unlikely to get better value for the payment.

Immaculately clean and comfortable room, very good shower and good fresh breakfast.

Perhaps a little flexibility on check in time as we arrived an hour early. (Our fault as we were aware check in was 5.00pm.) It was a lovely day and we walked by the river for a bit so it wasn't an big issue.

Perfect, quiet, well located accommodation. very secure, very quaint. We were driving South and this was about half way, we used it on the way down and again on the way back. Salbris is a lovely little town, so once you arrive, its a good place to have a wonder around and get a drink in one of the local bars. Also there is an excellent bakery close by. Well done, we will use you again.

Really trivial, Wi-Fi was very weak and the cooker a little confusing (its a cooker/dishwasher combination, never seen this before) but we eventually sorted it out.

18th century mystery meets plastic garden furniture and hunger.

Clearly the owners have put a lot of effort into this property, it is certainly unique. Despite booking two separate rooms, the availability changed and we were kindly offered a family suite on arrival so we could all be together. Cake at breakfast (should that be your thing!) was homemade and excellent.

The family suite was basically a garage with so many tables and chairs we could have opened a restaurant. Bathroom was tiny and did not smell good. There were no opening windows. The breakfast, reviewed by others as exceptional, was a baguette, 1 croissant each, jam and some butter which had long seen better days. Rancid. Not an egg or piece of fruit in sight. It gives us no pleasure to do you down. You are quite right, you do advertise a traditional French breakfast and we were blinded by the 'exceptional breakfast' review. Afterall we have indeed had some exceptional French breakfasts, sadly this wasn't one of them. (some decent bread would have helped). We actually held back on reviewing the rooms but now you come to mention our esteem.....various buckets and mops in the tiny bathroom, we couldn't close the door. Inching around plastic garden furniture and a large, not needed, cot in the bedroom. Hunting for a light switch, actually in a separate room. I repeat, no opening windows! Is that even legal? Living on a building's history does not make a decent B&B. We are keen campers and very used to roughing it but this was just plain bad. It did make us laugh though so merci for that!

Le lieu, une ancienne ferblanterie, chargé d'histoire artisanale et familiale. L'espace mis à disposition outre la chambre, un salon confortable et reposant, une pièce avec frigo et tables, une terrasse (même si le temps n'a pas permis d'en profiter) ... Le confort de la chambre... Le contact et les échanges avec l'hôte et la possibilité de commander un repas froid le soir ...

De rust en ruimte van de kamer(s). Vriendelijke ontvangst van gastheer, zelfs nog aardig na 2 keer wijzigen van wel eten in kamer of toch buitenshuis. Toch besloten van gemak te nemen na een lange rit door Frankrijk. Buurvrouw Lily van ernaast kwam langs voor een salade of koude schotel en snel geregeld. Je moet er wel van houden, maar een pizza of hamburger op z’n Frans is ook niet alles. Ontbijt is simpel op zijn Frans stokbrood, croissantje en jam met verse warme chocoladecake als surprise.

Om half tien ging de deur op slot, toch beetje vreemd.
