Quiet and comfortable small town hotel

Friendly staff and proprietor. Mix of basic and more modern en-suite rooms. Continental breakfast available. If the restaurant is open the steaks are great. I was able to park my motorcycle in the rear compound which was a bonus but there’s also a public car park adjacent the rear of hotel for cars

Location, parking lot, comfortable beds, good price. Book also the menu de jour (3 course for €15) in the hotel restaurant as other restaurants are closed in the evening during low season

For me it's a convenient stopover about half way of a long journey south.

I have stayed at this hotel several times and very happy to continue using in the future. Friendly atmosphere and the food is enjoyable.

I am happy with the service and the hotel so I don't have any negative comments to make.

Simple, good value and friendly but they really need to do something about those curtains!

The dinner was very good, well and freshly cooked although some items not available. Staff v friendly and helpful. Room simple but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was minimal but excellent coffee.

Bizarrely our bedroom at first floor front had only net curtains and since there was a bright streetlight directly outside this really wasn’t good enough. In the end we had to hang towels over the window to keep light out and get to sleep.

No longer a hotel

Leaving....

The "hotel"was shut when we arrived on a Wednesday about 4 pm, no staff till following morning. Restaurant also shut. We telephoned the number on booking.com and were given a code to get through the door and find a bedroom key waiting for us on a table in the entrance. The man who answered said he had a meeting and there would be no one working in the "hotel" till Thursday. The next morning after 8 am a lady told us if we wanted breakfast she would have to go out and fetch some croissants.

I always look to see if there's a room available at this hotel for each trip

I have stayed at the Hotel Lion d'Or several times, as it's a convenient overnight stop on a long journey south. The hosts are always friendly. The evening food is really good and the service is offered with sincerity. The room is comfortable and clean.

A preference would be for a kettle in the room to make a hot drink but it's not a particular issue.

As a budget hotel for one night we had no serious reservations.

The dinner was good. The staff were pleasant. The room was spotlessly clean.

The room was small and the dividing walls a little thin so sounds traveled across from rooms and corridor. But for the price it was adequate.

Adequate for a one night stopover.

The location was good for an overnight stop and parking was only a short distance away. We had a good evening meal in the hotel but unfortunately the breakfast was minimal and disappointing. I suppose no real complaints as it met our needs on our way home from a brilliant holiday.

Good stopover place

For us it was a nicer alternative to a stopover on a long drive than one of the chain hotels along the motorway. There are restaurants in the village. The room was a good size.

The shower had a leak at the hose end which meant there was more water coming out of the back than at the shower.

No tea or coffee making facilities seems to be the case in French hotels. Not good after traveling all day.

The food was excellent. The restaurant had a lovely, relaxed and quality feel about it.

The toilet in our room was tiny and had seen better days, however there was a notice inside it apologising and saying that it will be refurbished in a couple of months time.
