Holiday Inn Express Leicester City by IHG

Everything was perfect in terms of value for money, cleanliness, catering for a budget hotel. The fact that my son could go free for the family room we booked was such a great bonus. The breakfast was good; there was variety.

The only downside was the air conditioning wasn't working in the whole of the hotel when we arrived. I felt an email should have been sent to let us know ahead, because it appeared that it had occurred some days before and would take a while to fix. Although fans had been provided, the room was extremely hot during the night.

Was very clean and tidy

Right next to the football stadium, we should really have checked location. Air Conditioning was broken and hotel was boiling . They did provide fans .

Staff very polite and welcoming, clean hotel, nice room.

Close to event we were playing

Booked standard double, received email stating would endure to match request. Given a twin room, air conditioning not working on very hot day. When asking reception for another fan and the double room request, the receptionist was really sarcastic. She found my booking ( booked month prior) and said "yes, I can see you required a double i wonder why that wasn't actioned ?" I asked for a room change to a double and was told sorry we're full nothing i can do. I asked for another fan and an extension lead. I was given the fan but told no extension leads. We pushed the beds together ( my partner is over 6ft and solid, hence the need for bigger bed). This meant the two fans provided had to be placed on the desk too far away to make any difference in the room, it was stifling hot and very uncomfortable. When asked by reception ( same girl) if the fan helped i said "no", my partner went to the bar to get a drink, which she said was on the house "it looks like you need "...whilst trying to stare at me...it was really childlike and uncomfortable. My partner said it wasn't necessary and he would pay, but she was very insistent that he didn't need too. Breakfast was adequate what you would expect ....we did have to ask for milk, bread and pastries, as none had been refilled, although breakfast was still available for another hour. We travel the country gigging, using alot of hotels, this one was £92. We have paid half this amount in other accomadation, all of which were more comfortable, friendly and accomadating. Holiday inn is very substandard in comparison, we will not be using this paticular hotel again, anywhere in the country. Very disappointing 😞
