Hotel Tjampuhan is a very special place. From its inception, it has continually been owned by the King of Ubud and was the second hotel built in Bali (1929) originally as a home for the royal guest German artist Walter Spies. The hotel is terraced down the rivine besides the famous Campuhan ridge walk (where the two rivers meet just north of Ubud). Because of the special status of the hotel, guests have private access (do take the Temple tour!) to the Campuhan temple and the guide Arya from the hotel was very lovely and knowledgable -really brought the spirit of Bali to life for us. We learned the orgin of the word Ubud from obad/obat (medicine) as this site where the two rivers mixed was originally was originally a forest of medicinal plants. Managers and staff were really lovely and welcoming including I Wayan and Gusti. Our room (Lebah 2) was spacious with a huge balcony where we had daily offerings, beautiful bathroom, plenty of space for the kids. We loved the two pools -one spring fed and quieter -and the other with a fun carved backdrop of some naughty monkeys. We each enjoyed a massage daily at their reknowned spa each room perched atop and open to the river and from this experience my boys have taken to wanting to give massages -a gift that really keeps giving! Will definitely be returning and hope this place has a long and graceful life. Termia kasih kepada keluarga Tjampuhan

Very charming hotel, elegant traditional balinese style, great room, very comfortable bed. Fantastic view. Lovely pool area. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again!

Hotel Tjampuhan is one of the best accommodations I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. It is old world Bali with the perfect amount of modern touch. The ambience is so peaceful. You are surrounded by the valley, you wake up with a green, tropical spectre every morning. Sublime!! The staff bend over backwards to try and make your stay perfect! The breakfast is sensational, one of the best buffets I’ve experienced. We will definitely be back!

Loved the traditional feel and location was beautiful. Staff were really lovely and helpful. It is an older hotel with an amazing heritage and well situated just outside of the busier city centre
There was quite a bit of construction noise at the time.
