Friendly staff. Always clean, nice bathroom, bottled water always available, good breakfast, comfortable bed, quiet room, great location on river and away from worst traffic (still quite a bit of traffic - this is Indonesia). Easy walk via back paths to Bintang supermarket if needed. Got good low season price.
Difficult to escape traffic noise in eating areas. That is the compromise of being in such a great location on the edge of town. Was quiet in room and at pool. Please offer more cereal choices, especially more muesli! :)

From the moment we arrived at this historic palatial hotel we were stunned by the architecture and the “ jungle oasis” setting, Tjampuhan is sitting in a natural ravine, with beautiful gardens leading down to the river at the foot of the gorge, where the spa is located.
Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated, with a balcony overlooking the jungle oasis, the bed was super comfortable, the bathroom had a designer bathtub. Toilet, shower and hand wash basin were thoroughly modern.
We are early risers, 06.30 am, and to stand on the balcony watching the dawn break, shafts of light coming through the palm trees and the sound of the river below, was an absolute delight.
Breakfast: choice of different coffees, and juices, fruits and vegetables, 6 different types of bread, pancakes, banana fritters, and best of all ... an Egg Chef who prepares your eggs; omelette, scrambled, boiled, fried.
The staff is warm and welcoming, from the moment we arrived we felt pampered and cared for, their personal attention to detail is above expectations.
In short, we were so happy that we prolonged our stay in this hotel with 12 more days.

Everything perfectly adequate for a short stay in Ubud
Lots of stairs too and from each of the hotel amenities, restaurant, pool, room.

We loved the stunning hotel complex, discounted and AMAZING spa services, cleanliness of our room, and overall location in walking distance to some shops and sight-seeing. The staff was all incredibly friendly and we would totally go back! Breakfast was also delicious and had tons of local and western options.

We had a beautiful room overlooking the gardens. The room was clean and spacious with private balcony. The hotel dining and lounge areas were spacious and well kept. The pool was wonderful, clean and deep. The property is Bali owned and run. A pleasure to support the local people.
The noise from the road is unavoidable but really not a problem.

We are regulars to this beautiful hotel , we love the stunning views , the staff are amazing so friendly and helpful, the rooms are generous and the pools are fabulous , breakfast an amazing selection with excellent breakfast staff on hand .
There is nothing I don’t like about this hotel except the bath with shower over the top , but they are doing upgrades this year so I am happy to return to experience this new fit , so long as they don’t lose the views from the room !!

I recently stayed at the traditional Balinese architecture .
The rooms were charming and full of character and comfort .
The spa was another highlight — the natural the most relaxing experiences I’ve ever had.
Overall, Tjampuhan is perfect for anyone seeking tranquility, culture, and natural beauty in Ubud. I left feeling completely refreshed and would love to come

Beautiful setting, close to everything in Ubud, but peaceful, calm and immersed in the jungle. Positive energy from all the staff, many of whom have worked there for generations. Best pool in Bali filled by spring water, surrounded by trees, frogs and flowers

The resort is beautiful. We booked for the character of the hotel. Love that it was so connected to nature and rich in culture. Lots of stairs, but we loved it.
Rooms were dated, however they are in the process of renovations. Can't wait to see the rooms refreshed. Was difficult to get a drink at the pool bar as it was rarely staffed.

This historic hotel is full of atmosphere, beautiful Balinese architecture & gorgeous staff who make you feel welcome from the moment you step out of your vehicle. The rooms are exceptional, beds are very comfortable and views of jungle & river noise in background was a sleep app on it’s own
Just a short walk from Ubud central which is also perfect so you don’t get caught I Ubud traffic snarl
The manager Gusti looks after the property like it’s his own home.
Won’t stay anywhere else in Ubud

Breakfast good
Very very noisy and busy streets around the hotel. Bathroom needs an upgrade. Lovely grounds but difficult if you have bad knees and hips due the number of stairs. Ubud itself very congested traffic wise.

I absolutely loved my stay at Hotel Tjampuhan Spa! The place is truly magical surrounded by lush tropical nature, with breathtaking views of the river and jungle. The Balinese architecture and atmosphere make it feel like a peaceful sanctuary. The staff were warm, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. The rooms were comfortable and beautifully designed, blending perfectly with the natural surroundings. The spa was exceptional relaxing, serene, and set in a stunning location by the river. The breakfast was delicious, with plenty of fresh and tasty options. It’s the perfect place to unwind and experience the true spirit of Bali. I can’t wait to come back!
Honestly, everything was perfect! I have nothing negative to say the hotel exceeded all my expectations in every way.

This is truely ubuds most historic hotel, sacred, and forever special place in our hearts.
Here you get looked after more than just for accomadation, and the hot pools and cold pool are epic.

Incredible surroundings inside complex, really beautiful. Very clean & lovely staff. Good breakfast & restaurant for dinner has plenty of options. 15min walk from centre, but plenty of taxis.

I love the location and the fantastic setting on the edge of the steep river valley. I also like the lovely grounds and the way the accommodation is spaced out.
I think more could be done to promote the restaurant for lunch and dinner. The menu and prices need to be competitive with local restaurants.

The room was beautiful, the most wonderful setting.
The 115 steps up and down to our room were a challenge ... but perhaps we're fitter after 6 days.

The room was fabulous - spacious and very clean. Setting and view was beautiful. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was nice, particularly the breakfast. Massages were perfect after a long flight.
Area around the pool and Spa needs attention. Cracked and missing tiles. Spa is quirky and located in a grotto type setting. Access is uneven so care is needed.

The hotel is in an amazing, jungle-effect garden on the bank of a river. The hotel had a very good impression on us: spacious, clean room, kettle, tea, coffee are available. Really nice, colonial-style buildings and area. Staff very helpful and polite. Towels were changed every day.
Perfectly located, really quiet, even at night.
Breakfast was superb, hot and cold drinks and food, bit of indonesian but mainly continental options.
Unfortunately maintenance works are ongoing at the pool area, near our room, it was disturbing. The swimming pool needs urgent renovation, missing and broken tiles.

She’s a classic hotel and the bones are great! Needs a bit of revamping please…!
Breakfast had no table service, which is not befitting for such a classic hotel.. 🤷🏻♀️

The spa under hotel is fantastic
Wifi did not work in room, had to sit outside, tv reception was like watching a snow storm, water dripping from a/c all through the room, toilet hose leaking, faucet was not fixed to sink.... After 2 days of maintenance coming in and out of room they figured out the problems, and that was the room that had just been updated 2 months prior

Nice hotel just out of the hustle and bustle of the main shopping areas of Ubud. Peacefully situated above a river with views of the trees around. Really good breakfast buffet. Rooms are clean and spacious. The spa baths were a special treat - with sauna, hot and cold baths and a steam room - all in a gorgeous grotto.
Close to the bottom of the ridge walk.
Property is going through renovations so there was a bit of noise during the day near my room and some of the walking areas were cluttered with building materials which took away from the general peaceful vibe of the place / enjoyment while sitting on the balcony or by the pool.
Also, there are lots and lots of steps at this resort as it is perched on and spread across a hill. I had about 6 flights of steps to walk up to get to the exit / breakfast every day. Some rooms seem to be more accessible than others.

The room was beautiful, better than expected as it had been newly renovated. The bathroom was massive with a lovely big bath. The room was huge and had a beautiful balcony where we enjoyed laying to take in the views and listening to the river. I had multiple spa treatments which were excellent and absolutely loved the hot and cold whirlpools and sauna. Breakfast was very good. Staff were very helpful when needed.
The room underneath us was being renovated so on days we wanted to lay in, we had banging and electric tools being used. This went through till 6pm at night. We just accepted this as they have to get the work done sometime and we’re grateful for the newly renovated room. Also it was worth being right near the river. Worth asking for a room away from renovations if this is a problem.

Absolutely gorgeous property grounds. You’re right in the middle of the jungle with a river running down below. The spa is something else, with such a beautiful location where they perform the massage. Absolutely divine. Breakfast was lovely. Staff were super kind and welcoming as always in Bali.
We stayed in the premium raja room, Banyan 2. The view down to the river was amazing and hearing it through the night was so relaxing. The room as too dark for me though, even with all the lights turned on so adding a sky light would be super. The bathroom also needs some ventilation or extractor fan because it gets very steamy and hot in there. Also, the pool could be so much better. Updated better sun loungers and more of them. They’re very tired and worn. The pool needs major fixing with all the broken tiles, and a bit more of a proper bar with a nice bar vibe and low key music really improve the area. I think the charge for the room was too high in light of all the things that need fixing. Management needs to look into this asap.

There is constant up grades to the rooms happening which is expected.
Hopefully you don’t get a room near the work area. Best to request before you book.

A really beautiful hotel set in magnificent grounds. The staff are lovely and helpful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.
It wasn’t a problem for me but if you have any mobility issues or knee problems this is not the place for you. There are a lot of steps to climb to get to rooms, pool and dining area. It’s part of the beauty of the place.
The pool area has tiles missing which is not a good look and there aren’t enough sun loungers for the number of guests.
