Overall a pleasant stay.

The views from the communal areas were lovely, the breakfast was cooked to order, the cabana by the pool was comfortable and Thomas the owner was very nice.

Neat and tidy, was only there to sleep as arrived late and left early.

The fact that breakfast was only served from 8AM. 7AM would have been better. I had to leave before 8 so could not enjoy the breakfast, hence me rating the value for money lower. TV was useless, could not find a single channel to watch in room 8

Very nice guest house

Very nic guest house with beautiful view. We are sad that due the rain we were not able to try the swimming pool. Rooms are small but very nice and clean. You can enjoy nice evening in the living room and breakfast with very nice view. We enjoyed our stay.

Location

We arrived and put into a very small room with barely cupboards to hang our clothes, our toilet was blocked,asked for another as it was the most awkward room ever with inly a standing fan, we were charged extra to move to another room,pillow cases in new room are worn out, aircon didn’t work, had to look for batteries, staff was not a pleasure to deal with, will not recommend this accommodation at all.

Home away from home

We really loved our stay at Hout & About! It's a really lovely place, exactly as photographed and described. The rooms are really spacious, they have everything you need, massive comfy bed and the pool area is lovely. The kitchen and lounge area is a real show stopper, incredible views for breakfast! But what really makes this place incredible is the staff, they have such a lovely team, very much a home away from home. So friendly and helpful, make sure to check the chalkboard in the morning with the load shedding schedule so that you don't get caught out. As long as you plan for it it's no issue. The owner is really lovely, he made the breakfast every morning we were there (REALLY delicious food) and was so chatty and friendly and gave loads of recommendations. I'd really recommend this place, it has a lovely feel to it. We used hout bay as a bit of a base to explore nearby areas and it worked well for that. Nothing negative to say! It's worth knowing that if you're relying on Ubers - a toll is required to drive over Chapman's peak drive (not expensive) but you will likely be expected to pay the toll. Otherwise it's very easy to navigate :) hopefully one day we will be back! Thank you Hout & About 🙏🏼

Everything. The owner Thomas was friendly and helpful, as were his staff.

One small health and safety issue should be addressed: Handrails were not long enough and all of the stairs need hand rails. There are lots of stairs, but that’s part of the beauty of the Hout and About Guesthouse 😊

Very good, very busy so we weren't at the accommodation that much but was a great base.

Beautiful, clean guest house with great views and very friendly and attentive staff. Great breakfast and all round very comfortable.

More our situation, not so much the property, but having 2 x teens with us they would have enjoyed a bit more area around the pool and closer to the beach/entertainment, but for us adults was great.

Interesting experience, nice view and calm stay

The highlight of this property is the staff. The staff is always very very friendly and willing to help. No matter what or when, you will be assisted in the very best possible way. Also the view you get from Hout Bay is simply indescribable. Parking is available in front of the property, free of charge. The rooms were well decorated and well cleaned.

Among the things that could be improved are the cleanliness of the vents in one of the bedrooms we stayed in and the breakfast. Yes, indeed the breakfast is good looking and, let’s say, instagrammable. But they are very short on options. You only get a bowl of fruit and yoghurt, cereal and the egg of the day (which includes toast). After a few days it gets too repetitive. And although they did their best to accommodate dietary restrictions, it is not possible to ask for another type of egg but the egg of the day. As well as that, minor improvements would be the size of the tv and the temperature of the pool (even for summer it was too cold).
