Great stay

The property was very clean and had everything needed for our stay, including plenty parking. The hosts were welcoming, very helpful and available if needed. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Excellent home for a walking holiday in Derbyshire Dales/Peak District

A great place to stay not far from Matlock and lots of great hiking in the Derbyshire Dales and Peak district. Really friendly owner, as a lovely touch they even baked a cake. Great social spaces in the living room and dining room with plenty of cooking facilities and a nice garden.

I only dropped a point because the spiral staircase to the downstairs was a bit difficult to negotiate, particularly with bags.

Great stay

House was really clean and well equipped which made for a really enjoyable, relaxing break. The property consisted of a main house and seperate cottage. The owner was friendly and really approachable and knowledgeable about the local area. We had a great stay here!

It was not a problem for our group but the stairs from ground to first floor were very steep which may not suit the setup of other families or groups.

Stay was excellant Couldn’t have asked for better

The property was excellant,clean and plenty of space. Towels and toiletries were readily available and the kitchen was well stocked with crockery /cutlery etc Nice touch was superb chocolate;ate cake baked by the owner who was available if required but was not nessesary

A lovely place to stay

Travelling as a group of friends, - plenty of crockery and cutlery - toiletries and cleaning products provided - games, blankets and entertainment provided - plenty of seating inside and outside for everyone to be together - tea/coffee station on both levels - parking for 4 cars - lovely cake baked for us on arrival

Towels were provided however these could be larger, quite small.

Good, budget stay in quirky well equipped home.

Lots of beds, large lounge a dining table that 12 of us could just squeeze around for a Sunday roast. Separate cottage gave people some space away from the group. There is a bus stop just outside the property, which was great to get back after a walk along the canal to Matlock Bath. Hosts baked us a cake which was a lovely touch and the property is packed full of equipment and even toiletries. It was lovely and clean. Good for a budget stay.

A little on the cosy side for the number of people. The property has a quirky layout. There is a small, well equipped kitchen. It was useful to have a little kitchen in tbe Cottage to help with cooking big meals. Very steep spiral stairs as many people have highlighted.

Lovely family accommodation with plenty to do nearby for all age groups.

Having the one bedroom annexe. Spacious dining area and lounge. Everything supplied that was needed- well stocked kitchen, cleaning products etc Very clean. Off road parking. Lovely welcome cake.

Spiral staircase took some getting used to. Think there should have been a bit more focus on it in the cottage description as not suitable for anyone with even slight mobility issues.

Family get together.

Spacious interior and Mrs Woods was very attentive with cake and chocolate for the children.

Only parking for two cars on the drive and the narrow cast iron spiral staircase was a worry with the small children getting down into the kitchen.

everything, this is an awesome little cottage, very comfy beds, pretty much everything you need in the kitchen, a good working shower. Terence is a total gent, easy communications. and the quiet at nights is worth the price.

It was big enough to accommodate our ever growing family. Had a little outside area and had all the bits in the kitchen we needed. Terence was a lovely host. Dropped a delicious cake off for us as well one of the nights, special touch.

Superb

We were welcomed by the hosts upon arrival who showed us around....a very pleasant couple who presented us with a lovely bottle of wine over the weekend. Such a nice gesture. Loved practically everything here. A beautiful building with shed loads of character. Huge living room, good sized bedrooms. The bathrooms were clean and fresh. Beds were extremely comfortable. Pretty outdoor area at the back with ample seating and a large barbecue. It was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. The cottage was equally as nice. Would definitely consider booking again for our friends and family gatherings.

I wouldn't say we didn't like it but the spiral staircase going down to the kitchen and dining area was a bit of a challenge. Saying that, our age range was between 41 and 73 and everyone managed ok.

Fantastic house with all the equipment,items you would need. Located in a beautiful village, Very friendly hosts, who even made us a chocolate cake! Ideal for big groups of people, and very accommodating for cyclists. Will definitely be coming back next year

The Cottage and Mill House were both really well equipped and very comfortable, clean and had a friendly feel, like home from home. Lots of games, books, toys to keep little ones of all ages happy. The garden area was real added bonus. The owners Terence and Imelda were very welcoming, kind and helpful. We all would rate our stay a 10 out of 10.

Everything was expected. The only thing for people to be aware of would be the staircase could be tricky for less mobile people.

Friendly host Terry recommended local pub (Jug & Glass) for food, both the manager and owners know him. Ideal location for walks around the Dales such as Robin hood’s Stride and travelling to Matlock.

Family Getaway for mums 60th

The property has a lot of great space for a large family to stay. We had an amazing time here for our mums surprise 60th birthday weekend and honestly couldn’t recommend it enough. It’s not modern but that’s what makes it so fab… it’s very rustic but the cottage is still in great condition and very clean. It’s a very home from home feeling. The rooms are a really good size including the annex so you don’t feel on top of one another and plenty of room to unpack and spread out, we had 3 young children and a newborn (who comes with a lot of stuff). The children had a really lovely time here playing within the house and garden we were even able to use the bbq facilities which were excellent. The whole property had really good facilities and lovely little touches like toiletries already in the bathrooms and all kitchen amenities. All in all the whole experience was completely worth the money and we had a fantastic weekend. Terence the owner of the properly is absolutely lovely and very attentive in fact we definitely plan on making a return.

The spiral stair case is not for the faint hearted. It’s the only way down to the large bedroom and kitchen/ dining and outside area but it is wickedly steep and narrow and almost impossible to carry anything up or down especially a newborn.

The location was absolutely stunning. The Owner was very kind and helpful upon arrival greeting us with a smile to give us the keys. Property was amazing and comfortable it was like being a world away from home.

Could do with an update on furnishings etc. Cutlery,crockery all mis matched , some chipped. Glad I had taken my tea pot, not available. Need new mattress also. Also a better clean recommended. No Heating in bedroom & very little heat in bathroom storage heaters.

De zeer vriendelijke eigenaar en zijn vrouw doen er alles aan om het verblijf zo aangenaam mogelijk te maken. Bij aankomst een overheerlijke chocolade taart gekregen. Beddengoed, handdoeken schoon en fris. Huis zelf is wat ouder maar schoon. Badkamers schoon. Toilet schoon. Eigenaren wonen er naast en zijn bereikbaar.

Hier en daar ligt wat vloerbedekking die vervangen zou mogen worden.
