Relaxing. Just what we needed.

The lodge was very cosy, and warm. Loved how private and sheltered the hot tub was. The two village pubs were within walking distance, and the locals very welcoming. We will definitely be returning.

The pull out bed was not comfortable. My elderly friend ended up with a bad back due to how hard the mattress was. I feel instructions on how to work the microwave and air fryer should be provided, as it took us a while to work out. But overall we were impressed with what electricals were supplied. First night we were drinking prosecco out of mugs, as there were no prosecco or wine glasses, only two tumblers for three guests. We were provided with new tumblers the following day, and one wine goblet. I feel the site itself was not very well lit around the carpark entrance area. And that there should be more security, as in fencing around the site, as anyone could just walk on. But overall we had the most enjoyable weekend. Thank you.

Lovely place to stay, amazing room with hot tub. Great for a short getaway

Went for my girlfriends birthday & they very kindly put birthday banners and balloons in the room for when we arrived, was a lovely surprise for her and nice touch!

Cosy get away with the Mr

The location is really pretty, staff were really polite and lovely. The cabin was really cosy and perfect for a couples get away. The hot tub was nice and hot and so relaxing. Really quiet and a great place to hit the reset button. We did a 2 night stay for my partners birthday weekend and we both really enjoyed ourselves. The cabin comes with a toaster, kettle, microwave oven and air fryer. Along with plates, bowls, cups and tumblers. Lots of tea, coffee and sugar sachets and little milks in the fridge which also has a freezer box at the top. They supplied bedding and towels, washing up liquid, sponge and a dust pan and brush and plenty of quality toilet roll!! Staff had decorated the place for Christmas beautifully both outside and in the cabins and was a nice little touch.

Our only dislike was the mattress we felt every single spring. This could just be us though as I have a pretty spectacular mattress at home that's firm and with memory gel. We took our own bedding so just put the duvet over the top and layer on that and it helped some.

The lodge was exactly what I expected. For the price we paid i was very impressed. Havent found any other place where you can have 1 night with a hot tub especially for such a good price. The hot tub was ready as soon we checked in. The lodge was perfect for a couple, not sure if it would be too small for 4 people. The Lodge and hot tub was nice and clean.

Only very slight and I mean the only disadvantage that didnt really make much difference for us for 1 night, but the TV was quite small and not a great location for watching in bed.

Was ok - glad we were here just one night.

The communal fireplace was lovely- we made use of it and enjoyed toasting marshmallows

The bed was really uncomfortable- mattress spring could be felt and dip in middle of mattress. Could have been cleaner too. Hot tub smelled a bit weird. Our lodge was near a road so didn't really get the "in the woods' feel I was hoping for as you could hear the traffic.

These lodges are very basic. Describing them as luxury lodges is false advertising.

The exterior was lovely with picnic benches, bbq and fire pit in a little wooded area.

The hot tub was disgusting! It hadn’t been cleaned. There was a thick layer of grey scum around the edge and evidence of drink spillages on the side. When we complained about it at reception the man picked up a cloth and said he would give it a wipe. The mattress needs changing. It was uncomfortable, thin and sagged in the middle. We were told to bring our own knives for ‘safety reasons’!

Nice lodge

The lodge was clean and comfortable. The place was easy to find and staff were helpful. Hot tub is great and very private.

Could have been a bit better equipped. A tea towel or some kitchen roll to dry the dishes, some hand soap in the bathroom would have been useful. Kitchen is tiny, no space to prepare much.

Disappointing and not worth the money

Ideal for a family get away lovely and peaceful location

Shower was either piping hot unbearably or stone cold freezing, electrics had blown unable to use the microwave to heat baby bottles and fridge electrics blown so baby bottles went bad hot tub had broken on the second night and was dirty and had leaves in it and got very cold the staff said it would take 12 hours to heat up

Family short break

Friendly and welcoming staff, easy check in, clean lodges and surroundings, start up amenities ( coffee, milk, sugar, washing liquid ETC) a nice touch. Comfortable bed and pull out sofa. Hot tub ready on arrival and checked every morning.

The after hours staff was rude. We asked if we can check out at 12pm instead when we checked in reception and the lady said it was fine but the male that was doing his rounds after 6pm around the woods said we could not go for a later check out. He was very rude and unwelcoming!

Peace, relax and enjoy

The location, peaceful and well maintained Comfortable Bed Hot Tub well maintained and very clean Very Friendly Staff 10 out of 10 👍😊 Parking Toiletries provided We had booked a lodge with a bed and a sofa but were given the Boutique lodge . Not sure if this is smaller than the other lodges as we had expected a sofa in the accommodation. However we were happy with the choice of lodge and we will definitely book again with other members of family .

The door to the accommodation kept sticking which made it difficult to open and close. Faulty freezer compartment in the fridge when we managed to open there was food left from the previous occupiers. The staff were aware of these issues prior to our visit and we're awaiting for maintenance staff. Toilet seat needed fixing Missing 2 lightbulbs , the neon lights in the accommodation made up for this 😂🤣

Lovely place, needs a bit better looking after.

The area was beautiful and not far from matlock which is where we primarily wanted to visit. Was nice to be on top of a woodland for walking etc, kids loved it. The hot tub addition was amazing as well for everyone.

The particular lodge we stayed in had multiple damaged items on arrival that required looking at including the bin, fridge door, cutlery as well as missing cushions for the outside chairs which was a shame. This also caused some distress for us as we were asked to secure £150 deposit on arrival in case damage was done to the lodge by ourselves, which doesn't really make sense if it is already damaged and prompted an unnecessary discussion between me and my wife, this also led us to report the issues as we were concerned we may be charged for the previously damaged items.

Great for a relaxing few days

A great place for a family get away, ingenious use of the space. A quiet space for relaxing and the hot tub is a great touch and well maintained. The barbecue outside was brilliant for the nicer weather.

The only drawback was the kitchen equipment. I’d definitely take a couple of pans and oven dishes if we go back.

Chestnut lodge - May Bank holiday

Booked last minute for may bank holiday weekend Fri - Mon. Stayed at chestnut lodge. Super quiet and exclusive feel even though rest of cabins were booked rarely saw other occupants. Ideal for small families / 2 young kids. Everything provided no stress. Hot tub very private and enclosed

There's no shop for necessities on site but great co-op food store at the bottom of the hill half a mile away. No Wi-Fi but great 4G signal so again not an issue

Lovely break

Lovely break for a reasonable price. My only negative was that utensils weren’t as good as last visit in September. Couldn’t use the grill as there was no tray for it and only one tray for the oven so for instance I couldn’t cook 2 pizzas at once and had to cook breakfast in stages as there’s also only one frying pan and one saucepan. This is more feedback for management because any more than 2 people cooking would have been a nightmare.

fantastic and lovely

Really nice, we really enjoyed the private hot tub really was private and well maintained. Some work needs to be done on the maintenance we saw some bits that took the shine off. Hole in the walk in the hot tub area a rope fence broken in front of our lodge and a main fence broken in the carpark/entrance to the lodges. Staff were brilliant and helpful and friendly would definitely stay again beautiful place.

Excellent value with wonderful staff.

It was a small and well equipped little lodge that was excellent value for money in comparison to other local competitors, especially considering the facilities. The kids adored the hot tub and the cosy feeling of the cabin. It was important to me with two young children as a single parent to be have toilet facilities without having to walk to a communal block and this was available. Staff were welcoming, friendly, helpful and went above and beyond for me and the kids. Just lovely.

You are slightly close to your neighbours and this means that for privacy reasons the hot tub is very enclosed so not much of a view. However for the price you pay they are clearly making the best of the space available and so it makes sense and didn't cause an issue for us. Although I hope my children being loud and having fun didn't disturb our neighbours who seemed to be couples!

Cute cabins with private hot tubs, good price.

The lodges were clean and each had their own private hot tub. Good location for exploring the area and to go further afield to Bakewell Or Nottingham. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the process was easy. The hot tub was a hit with the children. Nice big clean towels were provided.

The beds were not very comfortable (very hard mattresses) and we could have done with a couple more basic household amenities like extra tea towels, some spray to clean the kitchen workspace and a proper broom for the floor. The cabins are quite small (but we knew that when we booked) so the size wasn’t an issue but there wasn’t much storage space for food - some shelves jn the kitchen area would be useful. It wouldn’t put us off staying again though.
