Amazing relaxing break!

The Dairy was lovely and cosy. Comfortable beds and kitchen very well equipped. Hot tub was great! Fantastic play area, the games room was a bonus we don’t know about and everything was so well kept with care and attention. Vic was so welcoming and we all loved feeding the animals

Only thing we would add is another towel rail in the bathroom :)

Lovely setting on a farm. Nice facilities with an indoor games room and outdoor play area. Farm animals and offered to feed animals with farmer. Pretty setting.

Our particular room (the old wine cellar) was under ground level so quite dark and with arched ceilings and low points it would not be suitable for taller families. This wasn’t a game changer but we are on the shorter side.

Family celebration

The holiday village and property was beautiful. So clean and tidy and felt very special there. The games room facilities, park and farm/orchard visit were all brilliant. A very special family stay to celebrate my birthday together.

A sharp corner in the kitchen that children could hit their heads on is the only thing we could complain about. Ideally needs rounding off. That is being super picky though.

Fantastic short stay in a beautiful location.

The property was comfortable, very well equipped and in a beautiful location . The outside space and small animal enclosure make it a lovely child friendly venue. We were attending a wedding at a local venue and it was ideal for our short stay.

The late check in and early check out are not ideal , and the additional charge for an extension not appreciated given that the property is already on the expensive side. The Dairy is beautiful and ideal for short stays as there is very limited storage and no wardrobe space.

Thoroughly enjoyable relaxing few days.

A very quiet and comfortable cottage. Beds excellent.

No hanging space for clothes and nowhere to dry wet towels etc after being in the hot tub.

An idyllic family stay - we cant recommend it enough!

Beautiful accommodation, well decorated, perfectly stocked kitchen, very neat and clean. The setting was stunning, I can't recommend this place enough for families with children - there is a gorgeous play area for littles and a fantastic animal farm/orchard that the children have access to with the usual farm animals, emus, and even meerkats! We used this as a base to explore areas like Matlock Bath, Bakewell, and even had a family birthday dinner in Nottingham which was a 35 minute drive. Great location, great staff, and wonderful memories made. We would not hesitate to return!!

The only comment for improvement I would have is that the mattresses in The Old Wine Cellar, save for the master bedroom, definitely need replacing. They were soft and unfortunately, none of the beds other than the master were restful.

A lovely cottage with a hot tub

The cottage was really clean and bedding was great! The hot tub was a real treat.

While we appreciated the importance of being respectful to neighbours, we found the number of signs around the property — particularly those about noise — a little excessive. We also received multiple emails on the same topic, which made the experience feel slightly less relaxed than we’d hoped. A single clear reminder would likely be just as effective without feeling overwhelming.

Great place for groups or families with young kids

Great location for groups and groups with kids. The play area was superb and allowed adults to chill out while everyone played. The bbq areas were a nice touch too and we had a great bbq one evening.

We had 2 apartments. The first one, I think it was called the wine cellar was very traditional however felt like it was underground so quite dark and claustrophobic at times. This couldn't be helped as it was just the design of the old home. Other area, think it was called the dairy, was great.

Absolutely love it, will visit again!

Absolutely wonderful place, clean, well equipped and comfy. I was very happy and felt so much at home and it was quiet and all the nature around made it even better. Thank you, Oakerthorpe! We had a lovely, relaxing birthday holiday and will definitely come back again! I also loved the little dinosaurs in the Orchard ;)

The only thing that would have made it absolutely perfect would have been more privacy around the hot tub in "The Dairy", with more foliage maybe or so. Also, when we arrived, there was a broken glass in the back of the cupboard, which was probably left behind by the last person who was there and one plastic cup had a leak, but I called to let them know.

A magical place to stay with the family, beautifully clean and the animals are wonderful! Feeding them with Farmer Vic was just an amazing experience and the hot tub was glorious. Peaceful and relaxing retreat

Fabulous family get-together venue

Great place for families with the animals and playground and hot tubs! It is right next to a working farm, which was quite smelly in the mornings, but that was short-lived. We stayed in The Old Coach House, e we high was great, equipped to seat 17 for meals.

Beautiful, clean and a lovely break in the countryside!

Absolutely beautiful. Stayed 2 nights in the diary. The house was so cute and was very cosy and warm. The hot tub was amazing too! We had lovely weather so went on some nice local walks (the pesto & the peacock restaurant around a 15 min walk away was SO nice!) House was spotless and the grounds were beautiful. Looking at returning with the in-laws soon to stay in one of the bigger properties. Thanks farmer Vic for the fresh eggs too and the animal feeding was fun for my daughter 😁

We had a great time and would love to return

Really nice place to stay, so child friendly with the petting farm and the playground.

The early check out was a bit of a pain, and the late check in, when you pay so much you don’t get to have that long there. You could pay extra to extend but we’d already paid a lot so didn’t want to do this

The perfect stay

The surroundings are beautiful, Elliot house was lovely and the park was fab for our children. The best part of our holiday was taking the children to the orchard and feeding the animals. Farmer Vic was the most kind and lovely man and the children loved him and he went beyond to give them the best experience. We will definitely be returning!

Location was fab. Cottage was fab.

There were signs around saying that noise needed to be kept to a minimum so as to not disturb other guests, on the Saturday night, the residents at the back of us were up being loud disturbing us from around midnight until the very early hours of Sunday.

The overall holiday was fantastic. The facilities were great, the property was clean and well equipped and the session with farmer Vic was one my kids will remember!

The double bed in ‘the dairy’ was ever so small and very uncomfortable - not in keeping with the luxury of the rest of the property.

Wonderful staff, and nicely restored historic buildings in a beautiful setting and central location

The buildings and settings were beautiful, and we loved having the animals round the back. The buildings and grounds are well-cared for and the staff we encountered were so friendly and helpful.

A larger bed would have been great. We are from England but live in the US so we have become used to larger beds, and being tall, that's important.

A fantastic location with young kids.

This was a perfect venue for a family get together with 2 young grandkids. The animals & play park were great and the facilities were excellent. On the weekend England recorded its hottest temperature, the Old Wine Cellar stayed relatively cool.

5 STAR HOLIDAY PARK- FABULOUS SETTING-AMAZING STAFF-SUITABLE FOR ALL AGES

There was nothing we didn't like about Oakerthorpe, it was 5 stars all the way, so many lovely little extras, tea towels, washing powder, dog biscuits, paper towels, hand soaps in all bathrooms & toilets., who ever has created this village has literally thought of everything, I can't wait to stay again.

NOTHING, i can not think of anything about this amazing place that is not great.
