Heather who was running it was absolutely fantastic she even dropped us to a wake we were attending .Breakfast was really nice and well presented and there was plenty of choice

A welcoming place with clean practical rooms and a great breakfast.

We booked two twin rooms upstairs and were very happy with them. Alison, the owner, was charming and helpful. The breakfast was great. My room had a bath, which after putting in some miles on the SWCP, was really welcome.

The location is a little away from the centre of things, with not so many restaurants in walking distance if it happens to be raining hard. Everything else was great.

Tucked away very traditional gem.

Excellent breakfast. Not too far to walk into town even if you're a bit older. Having a balcony always a bonus. Proprietor couldn't have been more helpful - even gave us a map of the town and marked eateries etc.

Lovely 3 night stay. Made to feel welcome from the point of our arrival to departure. Fantastic hosts, nothing too much trouble. And the breakfast was outstanding.

Comfortable stay with a hearty breakfast.

Avoncourt Lodge - a dog friendly accommodation, which was a dealbreaker for me - is perfectly situated for hikers. Not even 5 min walk to coastal path that takes you onto the Torrs (aka Seven Hills) with breathtaking views. But it is just as well greatly positioned with short walk to harbour with choice of catering from fish & chips to a pub curry, with many welcoming a dog companion.

Exceptional host and stay

Absolutely everything,. Friendly staff and very welcoming. Very clean and tidy. Alison made sure we knew where to go to get to the town. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order.

Not a dislike ..just good to mention if you have a bigger vehicle than a transit you may struggle to park or get out of the spaces dedicated for parking.

Everything - The lovely breakfasts were an ideal start to the day As a traveller on my own it felt very safe, I had a very warm welcome -as did my dog! and the other guests were friendly My room was very clean and comfortable and everything worked - tv, shower, blinds, fan etc

WE HAD A GREAT STAY THE STAFF ARE GREAT WE EVEN HAD A PACKED LUNCH WHEN WE LEFT .OUR DOGS ENJOYED THE SOSSAGE FOR BREAKFAST OURS WERE ALSO VERY GOOD . WE WILL COME AGAIN NEXT YEAR LES AND GEOFF REYNOLDS CLEO AND HORUS

Walk to and from town was on steep hill( 20 mins down and 30 mins back!). Weather waswarm so very heavy duvet was just too uncomfortable to sleep under

Idyllic retreat from everyday life!

High on the hill above Ilfracombe. Fantastic views. 20 minutes walk into the centre. Charming guest house. Marvellous breakfast. Lovely outside seating area. Spotlessly clean. Quiet location.

Amazing location, very friendly staff, extremely accommodating and pleasant. Very knowledgeable about the area. Rooms were good size with many amenities and comfy beds. No complaints

Great accommodation and accommodating hosts

Really friendly and helpful owner and team. Great breakfast and equally great value for money. We had a room with a balcony which was a wonderful place to unwind.

The noisy gulls were the only downside, though as someone who grew up on the south coast of England I recognise there is no solution to that problem!

Excellent hosts, friendly and helpful. Superb English breakfast and great relaxation areas. Only problem, and it was my fault, I should have taken the double bed. Will definitely go there again if I am in the area.
