Great Hostels Backpackers

Helpful staff and the free family dinner Monday - Wednesday is super great if you’re on a budget! Tours can be booked directly through them for a good price. Common area nice to chill and chat to other travellers in. Breakfast is good too.

Mouldy rooms - the private rooms with a double and a single bed smell of mould, and when we moved to just a double room it was better, but not great. This made me super ill :( Bikes are not safe - barely any brakes. Go into town and rent some better ones (they’re cheaper too!)

It is a great hostel! Friendly staff, very helpful and they will get you going in Baños. They have a lot of tourser, weekly activities in the communal area. There's card and board games available to play. And on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday there's a dinner on the house (yes, for free!). Which was very welcome after a 6 hours bus ride from Otavalo. Breakfast has fresh juice & bread! They also have nice cookies and pies on the menu. There's a laundry service too which is always convenient. It reminds me of a really social brown bar back at home.

The rooms are somewhat outdated. I was missing some hooks in the bathroom to hang a towel. In my room the doors of the wooden lockers were not working. The breakfast is nice, but a little bit small for a guy with an appetite.

It has a great location and great staff who helps you find tours and gives you tips. You can rent bikes from the hostel. Very young vibe.

The double room is ok but it had a little unhealthy scent. Like mold or sewage, not sure. The breakfast was very simple and the juices and coffee served were of poor quality.

Well the Hostel is trully what it is - a backpackers paradise with helpful staff.

But with all what it brings with it. We booked a room for 3, but ended in room with bunkbeds for 5and it was really small and crowded. I can't imagine how 5 people could fit there. The beds were clean but the rest was little bit under-mantained and messy. Sometimes we did not have hot water in the shower. The common room was a dark den full of interesting travellers drinking cheap local beer but also full of cats and dogs sleeping on every couch, so we had no intention to sit there with them. The breakfast was served in the same room and was very simple. Don't use their laundry service as it is quite expensive and they lost one of our bags and found it the next day but still dirty, so it caused us some troubles. We rented bikes and went for the route of waterfalls which was nice.
