Cosy, nice gardens, the staff were all ace in every way, felt safe, the field on the cliff where cows were grazing jn the morning, the view from the clift to the sea, the in house massage!
The breakfast options slightly limited within the hotel.

Location and the look of the resort. Nice thatched roof buildings but OLD
Very old facilities. Rooms defiantly need an upgrade and specially the bathrooms

The whole property had an amazing garden, and was set in beautiful nature. Breakfast was very tasty even though it was a limited menu.

A very nice resort, possibly a little dated, but couldn't fault staff, food etc
An hour journey from airport but interesting trip

Nice location for surfing, the landscape is beautiful and well maintained.
Quite far from everything.
The doors are NOT soundproof. There were Indian families next to our room and their kids enjoyed waking us up by blowing their trumpets at 7-8am, or shouting all day long in the hallway instead of going to play farther from the rooms.
La Joya failed to make it any better to ensure we would be able to sleep peacefully.

We loved the location with a view to the sea. We loved the beautiful landscaping and how quiet it was at night. The pool area is really great to spend a day by.

Everything!! The staff, the people, the location, the pool. The NYE party and dinner was amazing. They organised it beautifully and decorated perfect. We really enjoyed our stay. The food was amazing. All the cred to the staff and specially the chef! We always got the assistance we needed. Even removing not one but two large spiders. Always a smile, friendly and helpful at any time of the hour.
The breakfast that was included was a little bit thin for us, since we usually have large breakfast and no lunch, but it was extremely delicious. We could've used of small stool to put our backpacks/suitcases on in the room.

Great restaurant/pool area with ocean view. Lots of good chill out spots and areas to eat/drink or just enjoy the peace.
Breakfast was great!
Villa was awesome, super comfy bed and cleaned daily. Grounds were well laid out and a complete chill nature vibe - pretty much what you want in Bali!
Huge should out to Widi our server most days- he was epic, super friendly, attentive and everything you could ask for (always putting up with our families food requests with a smile). Good service like his really made the place top tier! Thanks Widi!!
Drinks were a bit expensive compared to elsewhere but you get what you pay for with the facilities

Really enjoyed our stay very friendly staff nice and quiet, good old rustic Bali bungalows.
Bungalows are not mosquito proof. But you do get a mosquito net so it’s ok. Surf is way to crowded

The location and staff were lovely.
The drinking water in the rooms tasted like boiled tap water. There was weird debris that dropped from the straw roof inside our room on everything. Our "private" garden had no gate and workmen working on the wall our entire stay. The door didn't open all the way and I kept hitting my head on it. Overall not what we expected for the amount we paid.

Good location with access that runs down to the beach. Staff were very sweet and accommodating.
The pool wasn’t overly clean, very murky! The grounds were in the middle of an update and so a lot of work going on! Our air conditioning wasn’t working properly so boiled! It completely broke on the last night. They did accommodate us with a beautiful meal specially created in the garden just for us as the main restaurant was under construction last minute when we arrived and we had planned to have our wedding there.

Nothing – my stay was cut short due to a serious accident on the hotel’s unsafe “Private Beach Access” steps.
Staying at La Joya Balangan was the worst decision of my life. I’ve worked in the hotel and travel industry for over 25 years and have never experienced anything like this.
On the first full day of my trip, I went to access the beach via the hotel’s advertised “Private Beach Access” steps – confirmed by staff as the correct way to the beach. The steps were broken, uneven, covered in rubble and had no handrail. My husband refused to go down as they looked unsafe, but I tried to take them slowly.
A step gave way and I fell head-first down the cliff, landing on my shoulder and then rolled out of control until a cactus finally stopped me. I suffered three breaks in my humerus (arm and shoulder), broken ribs, deep cuts and severe bruising.
The hotel did not call an ambulance and told me to take a taxi to hospital. After refusing expensive surgery in Bali, I had to return home to New Zealand with the help of morphine for emergency hospital treatment and recovery, cutting short my three-week trip. Despite acknowledging what happened, the hotel has refused a full refund.
La Joya Balangan is extremely unsafe. The private beach access, steep steps to rooms (also without handrails) decking and pool area all lack basic safety features. My health and entire holiday in Bali were ruined because of this place’s lack of safety. Please take care and avoid staying here!
Photos attached show the damaged steps and some of my injuries.

Thanks to its location our stay at La Joya was very calm and relaxing and we could enjoy beautiful sunset from the cliff. The pool side lodge are modern and overall comfortable. The highlight of our stay was our morning yoga classes with Max, which were the perfect way to start the day.
The restaurant food and service could be improved. Especially considering its rather high price point. We waited more than 30 min to get our food sometimes.
I mistakenly thought that the resort had its own sunbathing beds on Balangan beach which was not the case. Balangan beach is best for surfers and not swimmers anyway.

We loved the location from La Joya Balangan, really close to the waves eventhough still quite a bit further of a walk when you want to surf. We loved the food and our bungalow was really cute
We felt that the bungalow was a bit outdated, especially the deck has quite a bit of cracks where it sometimes feels that you could fall through or at least get splinters from the cracked wood. We also missed more of a couch outside instead of 2 chairs, it would be have lovely to just "hang and chill" outside instead of sitting next to each other having a beer.

The property was ideally situated very close to the beautiful beach of Balangan!
The amenities were excellent and the staff were all incredibly courteous and helpful!
The two swimming pools were stunning and we would be delighted to return in the future!
Not enough electoral power points in the room and the breakfast was a bit limited in terms of healthy options and gluten free choices

We've stayed at La Joya Balangan a number of times and find the property to be very charming, though not without the need for improvements. The restaurant and pool are lovely, with a great view of the sea. The staff are very kind and friendly, and the rooms are reasonably priced. Even though this property needs a bit of work (and has done for a while), we keep coming back.
Many of the rooms need some work - we stayed in a room (for the second time!) that has a door that doesn't have a lock, instead you're given a bike lock with a combination to secure the room. It's funny, but a bit silly. The shower in our room had pretty irregular water pressure and overall needed some attention. There was some construction going on around the second pool which was fine, but the pool itself seems to have deteriorated quite a lot.

I simply love this hotel. The structure, the place , the beach near by ( still never too crowded ) , stuff , spa, food, and price

It was nicely designed and presented. The villa had privacy and inside was lovely. The pool area was greatly appreciated in the sun, and the food first class. Strongly recommend 🙏

Restaurant was lovely overlooking the pool with good food and great staff, nice decor to dine.
A view of the sunset too.
Lovely breakfast, hot in the room and aircon cold.
The area is quiet, no sellers or stalls.
Standard villa was disappointing for the money. Large gaps in the glass for mozzies to get in, although there was a mozzie net over the bed. Curtains were thin and barely covered the large amount of glass and dragged on the floor, lacked privacy. No TV, felt like that there wasn’t a lot of room to move as the bed was in the middle. No chair in the room, did not feel like you could relax other than get in bed.
Paths to the villas were stepping stones over grass, and stepping over limestone, mobility issues would cause a problem. Lots of steps down to the beach which is suited to surfing. Not a lot to do in the area.

Picture perfect accomodation! The rooms are beautiful, clean, secure and comfortable. Surroundings of the property are stunning. Staff are all accomodating and very friendly and easy to deal with. Would definitely return!
Can’t fault it.

The view was lovely. The food and drinks were terrific. The resort is so close to the beach. You can walk and swim in the ocean.
It was a challenge to get a cab home to Sanur.

Service was great, room was lovely, pool area x2 were great, one situated near the restaurant and the Sea, and the other amongst some beautiful green trees. Breakfast was yum served with a fresh juice every morning.
There were a few other places / hotels / their restaurants that we could go to in the near locality to mix up food options.
Short walk down to the beach to watch the surfers!
Expensive, but I think that comes with the level of place it is.

Pool was lovely, food was nice, views amazing and right next to beach down some stairs.
We were put in the only bungalow between 4 that were being built/renovated. Only Bungalow facing sideways with no garden to talk off. Pretty sure this one, 17, has never been photographed for their brochure. We were moved after 1 night and it was so much better. It was the only bungalow available but it fell well short of teh others that had photos off on teh website

Beach was small. Great for surfers not for walking

The bungalow we stayed was pretty and the pool is amazing. You can enjoy sunset while relax on the pool
The aircon is not running the temperature we want in Bali hot weather and also the curtains are not covered all window so the room is not completely blacked out

The bungalow and pool area are very beautiful, giving some Ibiza vibes. Also the beach (just a 2 min walk from the hotel) is stunning. Good food, great massages.
The staff is a bit slow with service.. especially when ordering food.
We had to leave during the night
and the hotel organized a driver for us to pick us up and drop us off at the airport. He was supposed to be at the hotel at 4AM but never showed up. I tried to contact the hotel but no answer. The security guy was extremely nice and helped us finding a new driver - this guy deserves a bonus!!! - otherwise we would’ve missed our flight. Since the reception is not 24/7 I understand that nobody responded. However, up until now they ignored my messages not even caring if we made it or not.. for me, this is not a sign of good service and therefore cannot recommend this place as much as I’d like to..

The stuff was welcome at check in
Anybody can walk into your shower - it's outside and there's no door.
In the villas there's no soundproofing at all, I couldn't sleep all night because of a road noise (motorbikes, cars), dogs barking at night and roosters early in the morning.
In the restaurant toilet I hit my head due to a very low ceiling with no warning.
When I decided to check out a few days earlier due to these unpleasant moments, they tried to insist on charging me 3 nights instead of just 1 and I had to threaten them with opening a dispute at booking.com and charge back.

Beautiful private villa with delightful pool a short walk down to Banglan Beach - the sunsets were stunning
Restaurant had a great choice of food at very reasonable prices and everything we tried was delicious. Happy hour also made it very reasonable to enjoy a few cocktails
On our final night there was a fantastic Kazz band would highly recommend La Joya
It is remote however the driver who brought us from the airport we used all week to Mia e different visits and he was very good price
