La Joya Balangan Resort

I know this hotel from the begining. This place start to lose spirit. Need a litle bit renovation too. Guys if you keep spa so close to restaurant you should know that in price I pay there for massage I need quiet or special spa music, not a disco from restaurant.

Loved La Joya Balangan Resort. There are so many villas on the property but they all have their privacy with individual little gardens. The place is beautifully landscaped and nice to walk around during the day (there are frogs hopping about at night! But that was ok, I just ordered room service so I didn't have to step outside at night!) The villa has beach access to Balangan beach. There are about 60 steps down to the beach. You can hire surfboard and get lessons and I think there are cafes too though I didn't use any of those. This beach is not suitable for swimming, there are slippery rocks. The water is cold as well so i just dipped my feet in. The villa had a very comfortable bed and a separate day bed. The toilet and bathroom were separate. There was a step down from the room into the toilet and bathroom. There is a very nice pool where the resort restaurant is but I used the other even larger? pool instead which was closer to my villa. The pool is very clean and about 5'6" at its deepest point. It also has a very shallow round pool incorporated into the larger pool. I used the pool for hours on multiple days and more or less had it to myself. Next to the pool there is an undercover but open air area where you can book a yoga instructor. Near the restaurant and other pool there are two villas where you can get massages. Really great therapists but expect to pay a little more than going to a small massage parlour. We were able to store our luggage in a luggage storage room after we checked out. We also had the option of still being able to use the resort facilities like the pools as they also had a shower facility next to the luggage storage room (cold water only though). All of the staff from front desk to massage therapists to restaurant to groundskeeping to cleaning were absolutely wonderful.

The restaurant food is acceptable but quite average. There's no restaurants walking distance so we had to have lunch and dinner there and breakfast was included.

Beautiful setting and gardens.

We would have preferred a fan rather than the air conditioning all the time. Apart from that it was lovely.

The atmosphere was very nice and relaxing as well as secluded. Having two pools was great but on our last day when the resort was much more busy they took all the sun beds from the second pool for some maintenance work which was a little frustrating

It was very far from the centre and there isn’t much to do around the resort, some recommendations from reception or options to book trips would have been helpful. We had to move rooms after 2 nights as my husband kept getting this sandy looking dust falling on his head and side of the bed no matter how many times we cleaned it, turns out the staff knew exactly what it was and that it was a problem in that room once we asked to move (it was termites eating the roof of the room). The breakfast is very limited for a place that doesn’t have other options nearby, have to pay for coffee and juice as an extra.
