Woodhill House is the perfect place to stay to feel truly immersed in the beauty of County Donegal. It's situation out in the countryside, and is a short drive to Donegal town, and the gorgeous coastline, mountains, beaches and caves of the rugged northwest. The House is surrounded by rolling hills, grazing sheep, and the view from our balcony was an old, rock walled garden! Truly felt like stepping back in time, and we loved it. I've read some complaints on Booking about how "dated" it is, etc., but honestly, that's why we loved it - it's called "charm"! I loved the elegant, more historical, traditional style of our room and the main house and dining room. Breakfast was also absolutely wonderful, prepared fresh and very delicious everyday, and John and the lovely ladies who served us were so friendly, warm and welcoming. One thing I will say to future travelers who stay here is to please respect that this is a lovely, quite oasis for those who don't want the chaos and noise of staying in town. You are out in the lovely, peaceful countryside, so please allow other guests to enjoy the peace, quiet and rest that comes with this incredible location. Due to no fault of Woodhill House whatsoever, there was 1 night when we had just fallen asleep, when our neighbors came in at midnight - drunk, laughing, shouting, and kept us up until 2am. :-( We're very quiet, respectful people and didn't want to make anyone feel bad, so we said nothing, but were extremely exhausted the next day of our trip due to lack of sleep. Again - this has nothing to do with Woodhill House itself! We fell in love with this place, the people there, and will definitely be back one day. This is just a friendly reminder to those who stay here that this isn't a loud, raucous B&B upstairs above a pub in town. It's a lovely, respectful, restful place to get away from it all and truly enjoy the serene, natural beauty of Ireland. :-)

The breakfast was very good, the porridge cooked perfectly.
I would have liked a socket beside the mirror for doing my hair. Also, the room was too warm as the heating was on all night.

The breakfast was excellent, and the service was first class. Nothing was too much trouble, and the staff were welcoming and very friendly. They were very kind and respectful to our 97-year-old mother, who enjoyed all the attention.

Lovely looking exterior, in peaceful surroundings. It is easily walkable into Ardara along a farm track with great views out to sea. Recommended by our host!!
Overpriced, generally in need of some TLC, not worth what we paid. Grubby net curtain, rail hanging off the patio door in our room, could have been easily mended. The 'patio' was a communal outdoor area, shared with the smokers from next door so not used, not least of all as there were no chairs to sit on!
