About this cottage rental

Located only 90 minutes from both Hamilton and Auckland this cosy country cottage is located on a working farm. There is lots to see and experience whether you choose to stay put or get out and experience.

On the property:
There are three QEII Reserves, which are available to explore at your leisure.
The opportunity to walk through valleys with fascinating limestone rock
formations and the natural beauty surrounding you is quite breathtaking and it is well worth it.
The wild life includes goats, turkeys, peacocks, hares and birdlife.
You may get to see aspects of the farm in action if we happen to be moving the cattle or other farm activities. Or you could just relax on the deck and soak up the view and
peaceful surroundings that this unique part of New Zealand offers.

Definitely a great opportunity to detox and recharge your batteries!

If you do want to get out and see a bit more of the area:
-The Tasman Sea is a few miles to the West as the crow flies, so you could drive to Port Waikato and enjoy the beach and the renowned sand dunes
- Nikau Caves is only 20 minutes south, you can go on a tour or a coffee fix at their cafe
- Thundercross off road bikes and cafe
- Waingaro Hot Springs under an hour away
Don't forget on your way home if you are heading north to call in to Mercer Cheese for a nibble
If you are heading South check out the Greenstone Museum and shop at Te Kauwhata

This property is definitely for those looking to unwind. Bring everything you need with you as the nearest supermarket is 40mins away at Tuakau / Pukekohe.

Smoking allowed outside only.
Must respect that you are on a farm and close all farm gates that you open.

NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to:
Clean the house, do the dishes before you leave and take your rubbish with you

The property was incredible, with amazing views. So peaceful and serene. The only issue we had was that the bed was rather solid and stiff, just a little uncomfortable but otherwise we had the perfect stay!

Lovely little cottage set amongst farmland, relaxing, with wonderful outlook morning &night. No wifi and data coverage patchy, there are cards, jigsaws and books or bring your own. Loved the decor, comfy bed and linens, great shower and generous kitchen appliances and equipment. Thank you Nona for your warm welcome when we arrived, we hope to come back again!

The cottage is located and surrounded perfectly between beautiful hills and valleys. The ocean is within sight too. We enjoyed the sunrises and sunsets but most of all, the simplicity of the cottage. Just the kind of break you'd need away from the city. Thank you to Nona and family for their warm hospitality.

We had a beautiful stay at Kaike Cottage. There was some seriously dramatic weather, but that didn’t stop us from having a great stay and the sun came out to stay on the second day. If you are after a peaceful laid back time completely away from the rat race, this is the place. Beautiful scenery, cute spotless cottage with views to die for and friendly hosts.

Amazing cottage, second time visiting. This time managed to take a ling walk off the short deck not looking where I was putting my feet! Totally my own fault!! Our stay ended at 4am with an ambulance ride into Auckland Hospital so apologies if the place had some things not left the tidiest - but the half night we were there was amazing once again!

Delightful cottage in a beautiful part of the country. The views are amazing, even on a not so clear day. We got a lovely welcome by Nona and enjoyed the little thoughtful interior touches incl. fresh flowers. Planned to get through my book but didn't get there as we just sat on the veranda enjoying the view and quiet. Went for a little walk on the farm too which was lovely. Would certainly recommend and would certainly book again.

The decor is very cute and quirky. We visited when it was pouring with rain, so didn't get to fully experience the area. Roads on the way in would definitely suit a 4 wheel drive.

Amazing experience! Very clean and looks like newly renovated farm house. It has all that you need for a quiet beautiful stay. The bed is very comfortable and the view from the room is fantastic! You’re allowed to walk on the walk, and the surrounding are amazing! Nonna and her husband were very welcoming. Love this trip because of this stay!
