Takimi Onsen Inn that only accepts one group per day

Foi o ponto alto de nossa estadia no Japão. O melhor jantar, simplesmente maravilhoso. O melhor café da manhã, com vista para a cachoeira. O onsen privativo (masculino e feminino), também imerso na natureza e com vista sensacional para a cachoiera. Os quartos amplos e confortáveis. A sala de estar, também com vista para a cachoeira. Tudo perfeito!

Our two days at Takimi Inn were the highlight of our 10-day trip to Japan. Staying here is more than just a hotel visit, it is a truly memorable experience. The ryokan was beautiful, comfortable, and spacious for our family of four. The private onsens were incredible, with peaceful views of the waterfall, and yukatas were provided for everyone. After seven days of traveling through busy cities, the relaxing atmosphere was exactly what we needed. But the real story is Mr. Kioki and his wife, who are exceptional hosts. First, their kindness and hospitality were remarkable. Mr. Kioki drove us wherever we needed to go and was always friendly and personable. Every time we returned, his wife welcomed us with iced tea and snacks. They genuinely made us feel at home. Second, the dinners were outstanding. Easily the two best meals we had in Japan. Everything was home-cooked and delicious. We had shabu-shabu on the first night and wagyu yakiniku on the second, accompanied by sashimi, tempura, and more side dishes than we could count. The meals were better than anything we experienced at high-end restaurants in Tokyo. Takimi Inn is a hidden gem and a unique experience that we will always remember.

Nothing—the entire experience exceeded our expectations. That said, guests should know that you sleep on mattresses on the floor, the inn is surrounded by woods, so you may encounter a few bugs, and there is no convenience store around the corner. But for us, those were all part of the experience and exactly why we chose to stay there.

This ryokan is run by the nicest family. The meals were at the top of all that we had in Japan. Amazing! It’s in a beautiful area, a bit outside of the Nakasendo towns but the owner was happy to drive us when we needed. The house and waterfall onsen are really special, lots of carved wood furniture and decorations. The part where you sleep is connected to the main eating and kitchen area where the family prepares the meals and goes about their day (there’s a door separating the spaces but it’s not locked). We really enjoyed talking to the owner. The property has been in his family for many years.
