Takimi Onsen Inn that only accepts one group per day

This ryokan is run by the nicest family. The meals were at the top of all that we had in Japan. Amazing! It’s in a beautiful area, a bit outside of the Nakasendo towns but the owner was happy to drive us when we needed. The house and waterfall onsen are really special, lots of carved wood furniture and decorations. The part where you sleep is connected to the main eating and kitchen area where the family prepares the meals and goes about their day (there’s a door separating the spaces but it’s not locked). We really enjoyed talking to the owner. The property has been in his family for many years.

Koike and his wife ensured we had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The onsen by the waterfall is magnificent and the traditional Japanese meals were incredibly tasty. We loved this amazing Ryokan and would definitely like to go back some day.

Wonderful location. Host picked us up from town and delivered us back in the morning. Very nice historic house right next to a waterfall (Takimi = see the waterfall). Fabulous dinner and breakfast. Bath is great, with an inside and outdoor option (view of waterfall); one for men and one for women.

Absolutely nothing

Location! Location! The waterfall views from the private deck and Onsen’s was completely magical! The property is amazing. The food was the best we’ve had in Japan, and absolute feast for dinner and lunch.

Nothing, it was amazing and exceeded our expectations.
