A pleasant stay in Ventimiglia

A lovely renovated apartment with some of the original brickwork exposed. Good sized bedroom, comfortable bed and plenty of cupboard storage. Nestled up an alley way, be prepared for a number of steep steps to get to the front door. Quiet at night which was welcomed.

Unfortunately the shower was not hot and by the fourth day of our stay, it was barely lukewarm. Also there were no tea or coffee supplies so be prepared to bring it all with you.

I have a standing dispute with the host about this property. Please read below. However, the facilities within the property are as described.

A warning about this place: there are nine very steep steps up to the house, which are not mentioned in the ad! On 15 May 2025, we arrived in Ventimiglia Alta and Marco Corona, the host of Casa Ernestina, met us in the parking area. I walk with a stick and when he saw me, his expression changed, and he looked concerned. He said something like “Oh, I didn’t realise you walk with a stick” and mentioned the steps at the front of his house, which I was not aware about. Upon seeing the steps at the house, I realised that it would be nearly impossible for me to manage the stairs several times daily for the next 5 days. I told him these steps were not in the Airbnb ad, and he said they were. That night, I checked the post and found no reference or pictures of the steps. Of the 23 photos published for Casa Ernestina, only nine showed the inside of the house, one the narrow balcony and thirteen the sea, the beach and surrounding areas. We were forced to seek alternative accommodation and left the property the following day. I spoke with Corona, and he seemed to understand. I asked him why there was no mention of the steps, and he said that since he had not had any problem before, he did not include the information. He agreed to a refund of four nights. I gave him several opportunities, but he did not respond. Booking has been very responsive, but has not received any response from him. Be aware: This host does not take responsibility for his decisions. He has gone AWOL when asked to face up to his responsibility and has pocketed the money I paid in good faith for an apartment I could not use due to misleading information by omission.

The experience with this apartment was awesome! Everything: the ubicación, the owner with the check in and check out was very simpátic and helpful, the apartment is so clean, so cozy and beautiful and has everything what you need. My best experience with the booking and apartments ever. Would like to stay more and if come back to Ventimiglia definitely will stay in same apartament! Thank you so much! Was great! Si cozy, silince, comfortable. I really enjoyed sleeping there. To repeat and to recommend!

Es war sehr erholsam. Die 14 Tage gingen leider schnell vorbei, gerade weil es so schön war.

Der Gastgeber war sehr freundlich. Was mir besonders hilfreich war: Er hat mich vom Bahnhof abgeholt, da ich mit dem Zug angereist bin und mir gute Orientierungsmöglichkeiten gegeben. Das Apartment liegt sehr schön, in der Altstadt. Es ist ruhig und man kommt gut überall zu Fuß hin. Es ist sehr schön renoviert und hat alles, was man braucht.

Wer Schwierigkeiten hat, bei künstlichem Licht zu schlafen, sollte eine Schlafmaske für die Augen mitnehmen. Die ansonsten schöne Beleuchtung der Gasse erleuchtet auch das Schlafzimmer. Ich hatte eine Maske mit, sodass es für mich vollkommen ok war.
