Warm, adequate and close to points of interest

We liked the location. Being so far north meant it was relatively quick and easy to get to Old Man of Storr, and the Quirang. The dinosaur footprint rocks are walking distance. Portree is only a 15-minute drive. The kitchen had all the cooking equipment we needed. The shower gave adequate hot water. A handy pile of brochures and maps was in the apartment for our use.

The bedrooms are small. In both bedrooms, there is enough room to sidle around the end of the bed, but not enough room to open the cupboard at the end of the bed, making half the cupboard space useless. There is therefore nowhere to unpack if you are staying multiple nights (as we did). I lived out of packing cubes piled up next to the bed. I could not work out the heating. It seemed to be either full blast on, or off (only by turning off at the wall). We appreciated not being cold, but it got a bit stuffy. There were niggling repair issues, which I left notes for in the handy book provided for that purpose.

Well..where do I start.. FIRSTLY IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SHORT ANSWER, STAY WELL AWAY FROM THIS PROPERTY. we have had problems with the external provider from the start. They did not respond to booking.com messages, UNTIL the payment apparently didn’t go though, THEN we heard from them regularly. In the end I had to go on and pay on their private website, which I was not too comfortable with but we had already committed to this and had rented a car etc. we then received two different emails whereupon one stated in the ONE document that we had to 1 arrange a time with the host to collect keys, 2 get the keys from a key box and 3 that the keys would be in the door and the door unlocked. When I queried this to get clarification with Interhome they blamed the host for this, although when I mentioned it to the host too, they blamed Interhome…. The house is in a beautiful location but that is it. No care or interest is taken with the house/guests comfort as there is mould all over the bathroom ceiling and the WiFi does not work most of the time due to Interhome/the host being too stingy to have an own router in the property, it is shared with another house! For reference I have spoken with locals to the area who have confirmed that the broadband signal is ok in Skye (although not super fast). We tried to phone about these issues but no one got back to us despite trying a few times both with the housekeeper and the host. When I spoke briefly with someone from Interhome after our stay they claimed to know nothing about this and that if I wanted to put a complaint in I would need to go though their complaints process and prove what is wrong with the house. I replied no problem I will write a public review instead. For reference we are currently renting another house in a similarly beautiful location for two-thirds of the price and with bigger and better facilities, we have even met the host, as they had the courtesy to come and say hello!

kitchen was a bit sparse with a lot of items we had to buy a few things as there were none at the property pans need renewing beds were outdated especially the mattress fridge very small couldn’t buy a lot of items as you wouldn’t get them in there

Well worth the long drive from Wales.

Great views, clean with a good set of kit equipment. Windows on 3 sides kept house cool but enabling to catch the breeze from multi directions. Close to a good groceries and restaurant / cafe bar. Able to walk to beach area. Good car parking area next to cottage

Very little as we found it easy to stay there. As eating out places are not open every day we had to buy food from local shops but cooking was easy enough in cottage.

Lovely quaint cottage on Trotternish Peninsula

Lovely cottage near An Corran beach and the dinosaur footprints. Fabulous sea and mountain views. Location suitable for driving around Skye to see the sites: Old Man of Storr, Fairy Pools, distilleries etc. The entrance was accessed up a few steps, but then everything was on one level. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable; good quality furnishings. Parking space next to cottage. Also, outside space with picnic bench. Although small it was adequate for us (a couple), would also suit a small family with just two young children. We would use again.
