Donatela Resort and Sanctuary

The hotel is located in an unearthly resort, like a town in the middle of the jungle. It's incredibly green, and the cottages are spaced apart, ensuring privacy. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the restaurant was delicious, and the breakfasts were excellent.

The hotel is far from the main attractions, so if you want to walk, you'll have to walk a long way. If you want to drive, you'll have to wait a long time for Bolt, if he shows up at all. Despite its location right on the water, the resort doesn't have beach or sea access, which is a bit of a bummer. We had some minor complaints about the room: the water pressure wasn't always sufficient, and some of the shower tiles were moving. But overall, the stay was very enjoyable, and the feeling of a cabin in the middle of the jungle was truly heavenly.

Pas de plage mais le bord de l’eau est magnifique. Accessible éventuellement avec masque et palmes. Plus pratique d’avoir un scooter (reservable depuis l’hôtel).

The wooden villas and shared 25m pool were the standout features of this resort. The photos simply do not do justice to either of these assets. The size of the villas, high ceilings, the lighting and materials used appeared of a high standard and gave you a sense of luxury and seclusion within a tropical rainforest. The pool was a rare generous length for this kind of small resort. The manager at reception was outstanding in her professionalism and efficiency.

It’s a small thing - we were disappointed that swimming directly in the sea from Paprika restaurant was almost impossible because of the rocks and the need for high tide. However, the resort never promoted this explicitly so there is no false advertising here. Some of the restaurant staff seemed to be a little new - but this was a small detail among the overall very friendly and helpful service by a very welcoming staff. Overall we had a lovely relaxing experience at Donatela.

Room fab. Pool very clean. Quiet resort.

Broken down villas in places. 'SPA' was a hut! The rest were all in pieces - NOT like the photos. Service good and food good but very little info given about hotel systems. We waited 2.5 hours for breakfast one morning. In our villa. They forgot to deliver it. Only 3 other people were in the hotel so they were hardly rushed!!!! No access to beach shown to us. No tour of resort or list of amenities. No snorkelling equipment and no chance to snorkel. Very limited information given about resort.
