Henann Resort Alona Beach

Nice place, clean and walking distance to beach.

I didn’t realize there were three Henann resorts in Bohol, so good thing my tuktuk driver was attentive enough to bring me to the right one. Staff were consistently helpful and attentive, although check-in took some time and the queue was long. Deluxe rooms come with either two beds or one king-sized bed. I had requested a king upon reservation, but apparently the specific request did not register. Fortunately, I arrived early and the front desk staff were kind enough to make arrangements. If bed configuration matters to you, I suggest contacting the hotel beforehand or arriving early enough to sort it out. The room itself was comfortable. The bed and pillows were very soft, although the blanket was on the thin side. There are plenty of power outlets and a wide work desk, which I appreciated. The location is excellent. The resort is beachfront, but you can also walk out of the main gate and have plenty of practical options nearby. There is a bank with a reliable ATM right outside. Kajun and GLEBE Coffee are a short walk away, with Jollibee and 7-Eleven a little farther. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby, including Jose Panglao for Filipino food. The gym is open from 6 AM to 9 PM and was adequate for maintaining my workouts while traveling. Lunch and dinner hours seemed to be the quietest times. Shoes are required, so don’t arrive in slippers expecting to train. Breakfast is served at two locations with essentially the same selection. Coral Café, on the second floor of the main building, opens at 6 AM, while the beachfront breakfast area opens at 7 AM. There is plenty of variety, but this was one of the weaker parts of the stay for me. Many dishes were either bland or too salty, and most choices leaned heavily toward high-fat, high-sugar or high-salt food. If you’re trying to eat relatively clean, fruits and the egg station are your most dependable options. There are several pools, including an adults-only area, which I appreciated because the resort is very family-oriented and there were a lot of children during my stay. It is large enough, however, that a solo traveler can generally choose quieter areas and routes through the property. The lobby-side pool opens at 8 AM and the beachfront pool at 9 AM, so if you’re an early riser, the beach is really your only water option before then. There is also a spa, but the steam room requires advance booking and is available only from 1 PM to 9 PM. That means there is no steam room or sauna option after an early-morning workout, which would have been a nice addition. My biggest disappointment was the Wi-Fi. It was poor, intermittent and unreliable throughout my stay. I ended up relying on my mobile data despite getting only around two bars of signal. For a resort of this size and price point, especially one with rooms equipped well enough for working while traveling, reliable internet should be basic infrastructure. Overall, the comfortable room, excellent beachfront location, attentive staff, gym and easy access to restaurants and services made the stay convenient. It is clearly designed with families in mind, but there are enough quieter spaces for solo travelers to navigate around the crowds. Fix the Wi-Fi and improve the healthier breakfast options, and the experience would be considerably better.

We love the breakfast, the room is clean and spacious, the place is quite and the staffs was very friendly and helpful. We would have a return trip and we would recommend this hotel to our friends.
