Rooms are excellent, and excellent safe parking.
We have stayed here before and it was excellent, but let down by the breakfast service. This time was no better. Confusion with taking the orders, no buffet for fruit/cereal/toast/juice
A real pity, as the accommodation is really good.

Excellent, clean and comfortable room in good quality and well presented ground-level accommodation with car parking close by. The bed was of a very good size as was the room. We were very warm throughout our stay (sometimes too warm!) and enjoyed eating in the main rooms of The Fox. The food on the whole was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. The Fox is pleasantly and conveniently located a few minutes walk from the Cathedral, which was the focus of our stay.
Difficult to fault this accommodation, however a bath grab rail close to the bath would have been reassuring due to my mobility issues, I was given a non-slip mat for the bath when I asked at reception which was needed. Breakfast was as stated however food is served direct from the kitchen with no buffet opportunity. My requested continental breakfast of fruit and yoghurt could have been prepared a little more carefully without added orange skins/pips and apple core to contend with! The Croissant was however delicious! These are minor issues and can easily be resolved with a little more food presentation training.
The window in our room did not have a lock/opening restriction and being ground floor could have been a security issue when we left it open for a bit of fresh air.

Room was very clean, and comfortable.
The basin plug did not fit properly so you had to keep the water running in order to wash, which was a waste of water. Also, a notice in the bathroom stated that rubber safety bath mats were available: this was not the case, and my elderly husband had great difficulty getting out of the bath.

Beautiful old pub serving great beers !
Room with en suite was stunning and converted to a very high standard.
Very good breakfast too.

Beautiful room inside and out. Spacious, warm with great decor. Easy parking too. The location is spot on for an easy walk into the town centre or the Abbey Gardens. The bar restaurant is lovely and all staff we spoke with were nice, welcoming and friendly especially Ryan and Maddie. I would highly recommend this place for food, a drink and or a place to stay. This is where I will be booking again if and when I come back to Bury St Edmunds

The location was good and the room in an outside converted block had everything we needed and was comfortable . The wet room shower was good. There was ample parking.
We were not told in advance but were given an accessible room which meant the sink etc was at the height needed for a wheelchair user. The breakfast was ok but basic and the coffee machine was not working.

Staff are welcoming. Pottery is lovely, location is perfect on the edge of town only a 5 minute walk and your in the main town. But still quiet enough for a rest full sleep
It was old in style but very welcoming to all.

Bedroom was lovely, spacious, comfortable.
Room was far too hot even with all heating turned off and window open.
Whilst we applaud the provision of accessible rooms, we (as able-bodied) found the accessible bathroom most unsatisfactory - sink far too low and water didn't flow easily, no lid on the lavatory and why oh why a full length mirror directly opposite said lavatory?

Everything! The room was gorgeous, the pub is nice and the staff very friendly. Great location too.
Unfortunately our room was the first one and you could hear a constant humming, probably from the kitchen fans?

Great location with parking
We had a few issues with the room . Pop up waste plug got stuck so couldn’t use sink til next day . Difficult to watch tv as it was set on the wall at right angles to sofa . Poor lighting for reading . One light bulb had gone and another flashed on and off . Both mornings arrived for breakfast and no staff to be found . Gluten free options poor - only bread no cereal . ( and I had notified them in advance) They ran out of cornflakes and orange juice . We got served our toast first before my husbands muesli arrived !

Location was perfect for last minute shopping in town. It’s all newly renovated. Plenty of parking and pub was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Staff very friendly.
Bed was too hard and room was cold. However this was sorted by house keeper bringing in an extra radiator. Food in pub wasn’t great however they were incredibly busy.

Everything was great, staff were amazing. Only downside was the pub is so busy reserving tables for diners it was hard to get a table as a walk in.
The staff were really helpful and went over and above for us.

Welcoming and brilliant staff. Rooms lovely.
No refill of tea and coffee even though we were staying for 2 nights. For the time of year I would have expected breakfast included for the price.

Room was warm, comfortable, and pristine. Very clean indeed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and good value with extra teas and coffees supplied free of charge.
Breakfast was great except for the black pudding which was overcooked. This, however, was the only criticism we could make.

Very easy access to our room as it was on ground level with parking directly outside the door. Very comfortable and nicely furnished with a comfortable bed. The bathroom even had a heated floor… Nice touch..!
Entrance into the Fox was only a few steps away. The included breakfast was excellent; a good choice on the menu including “Full English “. We had our evening meals there as well and the food was very good. All the staff we met were very friendly. If we return to Bury St. Edmunds we will definitely stay again.
Everything was to our liking.

Room was spacious and comfortable with a big bathroom. Shower a bit iffy re water temp and shower head direction with no shower curtain. Very little shelf space for cleansers, make up etc. Would love soap vs shower gel.

Easy check in, plenty of parking, friendly welcome. The food in the pub was cracking and reasonably priced. The room was a super room at the back of the pub with bottled water, a proper tea pot, and a shower and bath as well.
There is a hum of machinery all through the night. You can't hear it until it's all quiet and you're in bed. I'm a very light sleeper so it disturbed me a couple of times. The breakfast lady told me it's the sugar beet factory and they can't do anything about it so next time I'd take some ear plugs. Also, sadly no fruit box to take with me as I had an early start but after dinner the night before, I bet the breakfast is fabulous. I had paid for breakfast but didn't get it due to no fruit, or was I offered anything else to take away like a bacon sarnie, I did however get a lovely take away coffee.

Accomodation very good
Breakfast - poor. Overcooked Bacon leathery scrambled egg - dry and cold toast - one side completely burnt
9.0 / 10.0
Staff was very friendly. The room was lovely and clean and had everything you needed.
The only thing I would have designated areas for you to park if you were staying here outside your room. Anyone could park there.
5.0 / 10.0
No non-slip mat in the bath for a shower.
Lifted floorboard (trip hazard) 8' inside main door.
Only 2 of 3 ceiling lights worked in the bathroom.
Cracked floor tiles in the bathroom - which moved when walked on.
One pack of 2 biscuits to share in a room that cost nearly £180/night.
Poor quality toilet paper.
Dangerous mixer tap for shower - unable to determine temperature until water running.
Staff who served us on the day of our visit didn't recognise us at breakfast and asked if we were staying there.
No breakfast bar as suggested on the menu.
