Canyon Matka Hotel

Great location for the canyon and the activities all based there. The food in the hotel was wonderful and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Everything stopped at 8pm. The bar closed, the food stopped and we weren’t really left with much to do other than retire to our room and watch Netflix - which was a nice early night for a change but I’m glad we only stayed 1 night!

Amazing location, what a view! Staff very helpful and our room was huge. Great restaurant and first class breakfast.

Parking - make sure you know this before going. There are two car parks, the ‘smaller’ car park closer to the hotel (approx 300m walk) and a ‘larger’ car park further down the hill. The road up from larger to smaller is narrow, full of pedestrians and parked cars. There is no guarantee you can park at the smaller car park until the evening, where the outside, non-hotel tourists clear out. There are no guaranteed parking spaces and you’re out for yourself! I would suggest dropping off any luggage/partners/kids etc at the smaller car park and then parking the car at the larger one and walking back but there’s also no guarantee you can turn around. However, once you’ve sorted logistics this is easily one of the most unique stays I’ve ever had.

The restaurant and the food was very good and the staff were very kind and welcoming. The location is breathtakingly beautiful.

Some investment to the quality of the rooms and the hotel itself would be lovely. Rooms are very basic, corridors are not very clean but the price is reasonable. There is a visible quality gap between the restaurant and the hotel. Breakfast is only from 9 AM, which is quite late if someone is planning a hike for the day or needs to leave early.
