No facility for breakfast, no sign of any staff on location in case of emergency, just a number to call

Brilliant value for location, with frequent buses to and from Edinburgh centre. Nice neighbourhood. Our bags were carried up the two long flights of stairs to our room. Room was very clean, a reasonable size and very nicely decorated. TV, radio, kettle, hairdryer, toiletries all provided and good standard. Small ironing board. Comfy bed. Good shower with large, thick towels. Street parking nearby was, luckily, free at weekends. Would stay here again.

Check-in was slightly complicated as housekeeper was vacuuming upstairs and didn’t speak much English, she had to phone someone, who I had to speak to, to confirm our booking and room. Public areas were scruffy. Once closed door to en-suite could not be opened from the inside, and not easily from the outside. Go in there on your own without a phone and you could be trapped! Light and power sockets only on one side of double bed. Toilet macerator was very loud and would come on when water was run in the basin or the shower was used as well as when toilet was flushed, potentially disturbing the second person if asleep. Open wardrobe rail only had one hanger. Street parking would be restricted on weekdays. The 2 spaces owned by the guest house were occupied, and apparently reserved for log-stay residents (this could have been lost in translation). No breakfast provided.

Room was big, well decorated, heaters were working properly. Regular cleaning was done. Beds were comfortable also.

No breakfast option. There were no such shops nearby. Restaurant options were very limited. More over no option of cooking or microwave. We had no remain hungry literally on our first night as we were new there.
