The having to make reservations and most of the restaurants for booked up on the app, but luckily we were able to walk in by being a small party. And the fact that everything closed so early.

The complex itself is clean and the rooms are great size and space. Pools are nice, and overall the hotel as a facility is good. We ate at all of the bookable restaurants, and food was generally ok, but was probably decent pub meal standard as opposed restaurant. The only exception to this was the Teppanyaki restaurant where the chef was both exceptionally talented and great fun. Drinks were good, although witing to get served often took a long time, and the only bar open in the evenings was the lobby bar. It was far easier to go to a bar than wait for staff to come and take orders. It all felt very disjointed and as if everyone was finding their feet. The potential is there for this to be a great hotel, but it definitely needs some fine tuning on the all inclusive offering and the communication between staff teams.

Food was generally ok, but not necessarily good anywhere other than the Teppanyaki restaurant. Bookings of restaurants was overly complicated, and while we were forced to book by app, we then felt the necessity to go to each restaurant to confirm the booking as on arrival we were were frequently told that our party could not be seated together, or they had another time. There is an excessively complicated seating system in the buffet, that often leads to long lines and then a lot of standing around waiting to be walked to one of the many vacant tables - there is no explanation for this delay! One of our party had a leak (water continually coming from the ceiling onto the floor) that took 48 hrs to attend and 72 hrs to resolve) - the solution from lobby staff was to offer a late checkout which wasn't for another 4 days.

The facilities were good, but a little bit too compact, not many open spaces. Food was good.

Having stayed in many all inclusive hotels in Cancun at least once a year in the last 15 years, I was disappointed with the alcohol options, which were basically sub standard, and even the selection for the “Vacation Club” was not premium as advertised but basic. I ended buying my own bottle of scotch, as the options were just beer and rum from low end brands, not what I would have expected from a premium hotel. I was also looking forward to eat at the Spanish Restaurant Barcelona, but to find out it was vegetarian, which I find to be a contradiction
