ZEN Boutique Hoi An - Eco-Friendly Villa

The location was spot on! The facilities were great! Really got to relax! The staff were unreal from the moment we booked till check out! They organised airport pick-up and drop-off, helped with organising excursions- we chose snorkelling on Cham island, I booked a spa recommended- again transport was organised. Everything was easy and so relaxing! Also I’m a vegetarian and they ensured my breakfast was catered for. Just want to take the opportunity to thank the whole staff of making it an amazing last stay of our east Asia trip! HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL TO BOOK HERE!

The hotel, as the name suggests, is very zen. The wooden architecture and facilities inside the room are very pleased to the eye. The bed is very comfy and it has a small swimming pool for you to unwind after a long day walking around the old town. The are is very quiet even though it is very near the old town. The staff were all friendly. The hotel has some rooms for you to learn about art/culture/history displaying objects collected by the owners, which is very nice. I would love to stay here again if I get the opportunity.

Our room was spacious, pretty, and clean - and we had a really delicious Vietnamese breakfast on our last day. Also, the wifi worked really well.

Unfortunately, we would not stay here again. Every morning at 6.15 AM, we were woken up by the hotel owner who was practicing playing drums for at least one hour. When asking about this, we were told that it’s a religious ritual that has to be practiced that early in the morning. Also, we were not told that breakfast needs to be reserved and registered at the reception every day for the next morning, so when we arrived at the breakfast room on our first morning, we were told that we were not registered. At checkin, the employee just told us the times for breakfast and that it was included in our room rate, so we were quite surprised about this. We still got some food that day, but the way they treated us about it made us feel quite uncomfortable. Finally, we did not really like that we were offered lots of overpriced tours, activities, and private drivers with the constant emphasis that they would give us the best price when we could easily order much cheaper rides via Grab and also found cheaper tours and activities online. This last point really is no big deal though, it just added to the general feeling of not being welcome (since we didn’t take any of the offers), which made us even more uncomfortable. Lastly, although definitely not important, one employee made a quite inappropriate comment about my face that hurt a lot - but this may be just cultural differences.
