Porto Nascente

We took a trip to Porto for the purpose of cruising the Douro river and sightseeing in Porto and the surrounding area. While the Douro river cruise was an organized tour, we tend to travel independently arriving at our destination a few days before. We selected the Porto Nascente Apartments based on reviews and location. We were highly satisfied with our decision and choice. We communicated with Flora, the apartment manager, prior to our arrival. The listed contact number is her personal device and we communicated via WhatsApp. The apartment complex is extremely close to the Metro station (6 minute walk) and the train station (4 minute walk). There is a bus route that runs along the street, but we did not use. We found it very convenient to take the metro from the airport and walk the 6 minutes to the apartment. Flora knew how we were arriving and asked us to communicate when we were 3 minutes from the apartment. We did, and she was outside to meet and greet us. She was a most warm and greeting host. Helped us with our luggage to the 1st floor apartment. Explained things, provided useful information and handed over 2 sets of keys. The apartment was comfortable, clean, bright and large. It was furnished with all the amenities we needed. No A/C, but it is Europe after all. The days we were there, Porto was experiencing a heat wave with temps in the high 90’s and low 100’s. The open windows and supplied room fans, coupled with the thick walls of the building's construction – provided comfortable inside temperatures. There is a supermarket about 3 minutes away with a good selection. A Lidl supermarket is a 9 minute walk away. We spent 5 nights at the apartment and used it as our base of operation to go out from and return to each day exploring the city of Porto and the surrounding areas. A 4 minute walk from the apartment to the train station made our daily trips to: Aveiro, Guimarães and Braga extremely convenient.

Our only criticism would be the bed. It was comfortable but low to the floor.

This is the perfect host that you'll have if you stay in Porto.The apartment is a surprise that you'll have, just in front of the train station, and you also have subway and the bus station.The owner allowed me to get there earlier, and she was already there with the keys.The apartment is very spacious and clean and there is loads of sun.

The short stay

Lots of space. Clean. Comfortable. Good value. Near train and Metro stations. A nice walk to downtown if one wants the exercise.

Street noise in the evening was an issue when the windows were open. Neighborhood was quiet but a bit of a walk, due to hills, for groceries, restaurants, etc.

The apartment is very clean, spacious, bright, and sunny, but not hot. It has everything travelers might need. The host is very kind and positive. Many thanks to her for making our stay so pleasant! The location is excellent, close to the large Campanhã train and bus station. It is easy to get both to Porto city center and to interesting places outside the city, such as Braga, Guimarães, Aveiro, and Lisbon. In summary: both the apartment and Porto are worth staying longer for.
