Villa Katerina Apartments

We enjoyed our stay in Villa Katerina for 4 days. The location is very close to two beautiful beaches: Liapades Beach and Rovinia Beach. Katerina, the hostess, is a very friendly and kind lady, and we were really pleased to get to know her. She also offered us her beach umbrella to use and gave us great local recommendations for beaches and restaurants. The room was spacious and clean as well.

The only downside was the internet. Mobile network reception in the area is generally quite poor, and the Wi-Fi was weak and unstable. So if having a reliable internet connection is very important for you, this is something to consider.

Very nice family run property in Liapades, just a short walk away from Liapades beach and Rovinia beach. You can also go to the quiet Glyko cove by Rovinia. There is a small supermarket right by the property and two more supermarkets up the road on the way to the village. You can walk (Corfu trail) to Limni beach, Illiodoros beach (empty except for the boats which come and go but a rather steep hike on the way back) as well as to Paleokastritsa (Corfu trail starts from Liapades beach by the rocks and goes up to Lakones then down to Paleokastritsa via donkey path but you can also walk along the road straight to Paleo and some of the beaches such as la Grotta). Beautiful area, very green, the property has lovely gardens with many flowers. Katerina is a lovely, caring hostess. The flat was comfortable enough, excellent AC, a safe, a nice shower and a small kitchenette which had everything needed. To explore the island it’s best to hire a scooter or a small car although you can get by bus to Corfu town (great souvenirs). I found Liapades to be a better base compared to Paleo because it’s rather quiet. There are a few options for eating out and a fruit vendor by Rovinia beach. The sea is beautiful (star fish, a large grouper spotted) but take your swimming shoes with you! All in all, Katerina‘s apartments are an excellent choice for a relaxing holiday in the midst of most beautiful nature, quiet but still with easy access to everything even w/o a car.

The owner was very friendly and helpful and always available. The room was large and had recently had a makeover It was good value for money

The balcony was too small for the size of the room The beds were very uncomfortable and the pillows were too hard The self catering facilities were inadequate. There was only a 2 ring hob, sandwich toaster and kettle and very limited utensils and crockery The WiFi was unreliable There was an intermittent smell of sewage The apartment was never cleaned properly in the 10 days of our stay
