Terrible

The service was appalling, the staff was rude, unhelpful and never in attendance. It is the end of January and I am still waiting fir my payment receipt The accommodation was small, outdated and expensive - better value and service elsewhere - I only stayed one night

Excellent value for money

Simple, no frills hotel that did exactly what it said on the tin. Absolutely spotlessly clean. Great water pressure in the bathroom, water piping hot. Comfortable bed, plenty of wardrobe space. They allowed us to check-in early without prior notice. Excellent location. At the price point what more could you possibly ask for? Great value for money. Will use again when in the area.

Traditional guest house in a peaceful charming part of Bournemouth. Close to good amenities.

The breakfast was great. Home cooked. Quality ingredients and hot. I slept well in a comfortable bed. There is a nice walk down to the beach down what they call down south, a Chine. Wooded but suitable for a pushchair - very pretty. From to you can walk on the beach into Bournemouth. The guest house is minutes walk from Westbourne with shops and restaurants.

A fantastic and lovely stay!!

We had a lovely welcome from Nelia & Darren, they were amazing hosts. Very attentive and pleasant. cannot fault them. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed for a lovely stay. The breakfast was amazing too. Would highly recommend this B&B and will definitely be back. The location could not be better too. A big thank you to our hosts for a lovely stay.

Clean, decorated well, quite and in a good location

The property was decorated to a high standard and was extremely clean. The location is close to the shops and the beach via Alum Chine. The owners were helpful and polite. Its quite and I would use it again.

Southernhay was the perfect place for a short stay in Bournemouth.

Nelia and Darren were very friendly and welcoming, and went out of their way to provide what we needed. The bed was comfortable, and the breakfast good value. The location was very good, with the top of Alum Chine quite close in one direction, and Westbourne centre, with its range of shops and restaurants, in the other. There were frequent buses, going to Poole and Bournemouth.

The bathroom was a little limited for space, but this was a minor point. We and some other guests would have liked breakfast served earlier than 8.30 (this time was put back slightly).

Loads of choice for breakfast.Friendly service. Spotlessly clean room and bathroom. Ideally situated for local shops and not far from the beach. Onsite free parking.

Brilliant stay in the Westbourne area

Friendly and welcoming hosts; Darren was superb during breakfast each morning, great service skills and sense of humour. Southernhay is perfectly located for a 5 min walk to the lovely Westbourne shops, and a 15 min walk to the beach through the amazing Alum Chine.

The place is absolutely spotless and the location is very good. In a lovely quiet area.

The bed was a bit hard for us both and the quilt too warm for the hot weather we had (28C) in the day and for that reason I did not sleep very well. The good thing is that you could open the windows.

Smart. Welcome good. Bedroom and shower room (detached) were modern and fine. I enjoyed breakfast - There was a good choice. Staff were attentive to detail.

We had room 6, a lovely room which faced the front of the property with the sun shining in. Extremely clean, comfortable bed and fab shower/ bathroom. Very friendly owners who took the time to chat and obviously work very hard. Beautiful breakfast with a choice of cereal, orange juice, tea, toast and a full English served up hot. The place is based in Westcombe, a lovely area. There is also free parking available, an added bonus. Shampoo and hairdryer provided. We did walk in to Bournemouth, a fair walk but there are buses.

Everything was great - the room just felt a little chilly in the evening but there was a throw provided for the bed should you need it. We stayed on 2 very cold nights too.
