The Deer Park Inn

The location is unbeatable. You wake up, open the curtains and the deer are there. Then you go out and the shrines are right there, empty because you arrived first.

The building feels old and not very well kept. The room we got had a bed and almost nothing else, even though it was very big for japanese standards, there was nothing to lay your luggage or hang your clothes. I would stay again, no doubt

If you want a classic Nara park feel in a nature setting away from tourists in the afternoons this is the place to be. When everyone else is gone you’re in the heart of the park experiences nature as intended. I love The Deer Park Inn and would recommend it to anyone thinking of staying in Nara.

There was nothing I could say poorly about this property. Everything was how it should be. Quality expectations.

Amazing location inside Nara Park. It was lovely waking up to the deer outside the window, even managed to see a raccoon dog!

Location - as promised, I could see deer from my room Also great for visiting Kasuga Taisha shrine and for viewing the sunset from Wakakusayama hill. No need to walk back through the park in the dark.

As a solo traveller, I found the place soulless and the other guests (all westerners) unfriendly and almost hostile. I had just come from a lovely cosy Japanese guesthouse and this was quite a contrast. I briefly saw the only member of staff at my check-in on day 1. The kitchen area was quite neglected and smelt damp though it was full of facilities I never used. There were no shops nearby to buy food to cook up.
