Tritone Top House

We booked tritone top house hotel but we actually stayed what they call off site. Turned out we were 1.4 km away in a boarding house on the 4th floor. Great location and lovely room once you walked up the 74 narrow stairs. No elevator. Would be good to know next time.

Great location, a lovely patio, and very comfortable beds. I would definitely stay here again if I ever return to Rome. The apartment had a pleasant indoor climate, reliable Wi-Fi, and an easy self-check-in process after the reception had closed.

There were difficulties when they tried to charge my card a couple of days before arrival. The problem was not on my side (as many others have mentioned in Google reviews after having the same experience). I have never had any issues with my card being charged through Booking.com before. I updated my card details three times, yet I kept receiving messages saying, "Please update your card to avoid cancellation of your reservation." In the end, we managed to resolve the issue over the phone. It was a hassle and completely unnecessary, hence I had my card details all set through Booking.com, as so many times before. It would be 10/10 without this...

The staff were friendly and accommodating and provided an extra pillow on request. Roof terrace is a nice feature and the shower is a good size.

Instructions were not all that clear for check in, as multiple messages on the site and via the booking confirmation suggest you need to go to the main Tritone property to check in, but this was not the case, so after climbing 3 flights of stairs to search for reception, we were sent a 10 minute walk away to our actual apartment where we did check in. The location also seemed to suggest the other building was near the Trevi fountain, but it’s actually near the Spanish steps, so not really where I was looking to book. I completely understand it being noisy in a capital city but the windows may as well be paper, perhaps ear plugs could be provided. Also, the website suggests there are full pastry breakfast options available but staff informed us this was not the case when we enquired. Only tea and coffee were complimentary in the room, no further snacks or a token small bottle of water or wine which I might expect for the price.
