The sand bath experience was good.
Lights in room is too low. The bathroom shower head is too small to have a comfortable bath.

Location, in the middle of a road in the national park. The water quality from the Onsen was good. Buffet breakfast and dinner, we're fairly good and had good Japanese and western choices . Even if packed at times, staff was kind and efficient and would replenish every empty dish. The dining hall and the lounge are nice, with Japanese drum shows and some free drinks.
It's a hit and miss, the hotel has been renewed only partially, so you can find the new nice rotemburo opened in 2026 and some old areas like the inner onsens , elevators and windows back from the 70s or 80s. This might give a feeling of dirt at some places.
The newest bigger rotemburo shown in pictures is for women's only, the men's part is nice but much smaller. The older ones shift everyday between gender, they could do the same with the new ones so that everyone could experience them.
Despite this comments, it's been a nice experience in general.

Nice hotel with onsen. They also offered free coffee etc. the buffet for breakfast and dinner were also really good. The onsen is also nice

The onsen was great
Food was mediocre. Hotel is getting a bit old and tired. No control over room temperature. Public bus to region is difficult - take lots of change, as it doesn’t accept new bills/notes - limited schedule
