Self check-in and good wifi
Room is dated and you can see. Walls paint were coming off, strong smell from the room (like cigarettes) also is a dodgy area 2 of the 3 nights I stayed here I was woken up by yonkies having a fight and shouting in the middle of the road at 4:30 am

The hotel was near the place we wanted to go, but that's pretty much it.
The room and the pictures of it is like a before and after a nuclear war.
Everything was pretty dirty, the blinds wouldn't open or close, the bathroom sink didn't drain. I don't think we will be coming back for the price we paid I was expecting at least a clean room. Disappointing.

It was to old, not worth the money
The interior too old, and nothing was chosen with taste. I payed almost 100 € per night, and it was not even close as a value to that amount.

Newly revamped and very modern finishings. Tram is right accross the street so easy access to public transport to all sights and close to Old Vienna center.
Parking is a bit of a pain.

It was nice to have a little kitchenette.
The location was great for the stadium. Easy to walk from and also catch the bus into Zurich town and the train station.
Although we had a kitchenette, just basic facilities were missing like a kettle, washing up liquid (we had a sponge and a towel).
The cutlery was also dirty (probably coz the previous person didn't have any washing up liquid 🤣)
There was also only one curtain so pretty pointless for keeping the light out.
The window wouldn't stay open so we had to prop it open with a bottle.
There was also a cable laying around doing nothing.
The lift up to the room was a bit worrying whether we would make it.

Very well located for my trip to the football stadium 5 mins down the road! Decent enough for the price I paid. Cleaners were helpful and friendly. Place was quiet at night, no rowdy guests.
Not really fair or their fault but air-con or fan provided… being 30° out was like a sauna!

It was convenient
Would have preferred if I had a some Aircon

The location of the hotel is prime. Although the entrance to the hotel immediately set a negative tone. It was dirty and had a strong smell of smoke, creating a very unwelcoming first impression. At that point, it already felt like something was not quite right. Check-in - self key collection itself was okay and easy.
Room Issues:
One of the room doors wouldn't open. I had to contact both Booking.com and the property via message. As there was no staff onsite, it took over an hour to get the issue resolved.
The room itself had a bad smell, and the children felt unsafe. The kitchen lacked necessities—there was no soap, no washing-up option, no kettle, and the one pan provided was greasy.
The beds were just about okay.
Bathroom Facilities:
The washbasin was leaking water, making it unusable. The toilet seat was broken, and the lights in the bathroom were flickering—clearly signs of poor maintenance and we didn’t risk taking a shower as well.
Safety Concerns:
To make matters worse, there was a loud altercation on the floor during the night involving shouting and heavy movement. It was a terrifying, sleepless experience for the entire family.
Final Thoughts:
I genuinely question how this property has received a 3-star rating on Booking.com. Going forward, I will rely less on Booking.com ratings and ensure I cross-verify reviews through Google or other platforms.

Nice building from outside and pretty decoration on the stairs and corridors and other common areas. Good neighbourhood, even though quite far from the city centre.
1. Shower curtain was too short. The floor was flooded after every shower.
2. The bed was quite short too. The feet were hanging off the bed.
3. Very small blanket for two people and also quite short. I’m 1.76 tall. And yet it was small for me.
4. Window shutters could not be opened. The mechanism was broken. Only some space at the bottom of the window for the day light.
5. No hangers or wardrobe to hang or store the clothes. Not even hooks to hang a coat.
6. Quite dirty walls and the carpet.
7. No fridge or kettle in the room. No iron either. And no common area where appliances could be found.
8. WiFi password was not in the room as promised. I had to spend considerable amount of money on roaming fees to send a message to the company and to receive the answer, since my phone automatically started downloading all the pending information.
9. Swiss electricity sockets are different from the European or any other type of sockets I have ever seen abroad. Therefore, it was impossible to charge appliances. Luckily I found one socket right under the door light switch. It accepted a standard adaptor, but the contact inside was very bad. Could start charging my phone only after 10-15 min fiddling with the socket.

Public transport nearby.
The window handle was broken during our entire stay. The room smelled like cigarette smoke. We hardly managed to turn the metal bar and open it. We didn't receive a new room because everything was booked. Nobody came to fix the window.

Price and location is the strongest point. There is a tram and bus station very close to the property.
Everything was perfect.

Location is great, very good connections to the nearest Bahnhof . It was clean. The bed was comfortable. My check in was after midnight in this self check in /check out is very convenient .
The room was hot as hell and extremely noisy. I couldn’t sleep at all. No working lights in the bathroom.

The only thing that was ok was the location.
I chose to stay in the apartment (not a room) hoping that as it is a bit more expensive, it is going to be better than the rooms, that so many guests wrote bad reviews about. But it turned out as almost the same experience or even worse. 1) There were dead bugs on the bed - on the sheets and on the pillowcase!!! Disgusting! 2) It was not possible to connect to the wifi, although the login details are on the doors but either they are incorrect, or the system is not working. So I had to buy data extra although it was promissed that there will be free wi-fi. I messaged the hotel but they haven’t answered even after 11 days. 3) There was a strong smell of cigarete smoke as I came in. The only thing I asked the hotel in my reservation was to not have the cigarete smoke and to ventilate my room well which they wrote they will do. 4) The things are damaged or are not working - the fridge, the heater, the shower head. Most of the furnitures are damaged and in poor condition. 5) There is no electricity (therefore no light and also no working light switches) in the bedroom and bathroom! Electricity is only in the living room. 6) The only working socket to charge a phone is by the entrance door. 7) Dirty walls, ceiling, bed, almost everything.
I have videos for the evidence.

This place is located right opposite to tram station and train station is just 15min walk.
District 1 is only 10 min with tram route
Hair dryer was not in a working condition.
Hygiene was little bit compromising however they provided clean bedding.
No reception or extension contact on site to inform regarding difficulties during stay.
Key collection and key drop from a box which is literally behind the hotel :( and was difficult to find during night time due to bare minimum light

Easy check in , easy check out , instructions were clear and the location superb . It gives the tourist opportunity to travel via tram , bus and walking distance to coop , Migros , restaurants , cafe and to main train station . Tram no.3 from main bus station .
The property is clean outside and inside the room . Electronic time light is a bonus in the corridors . The only thing I did not like is there is no kettle . I am aware that it is not part of the facilities . Yet , I stayed 4 days and 3 nights . There are times I really fancy a coffee inside my room . It will be great if there is a coffee / tea facility . No need of a flat screen TV .

Self check-in at any time of day or night with a code to type on a key delivery machine.
The form to fill in to get the key box code. Why would I need to provide this personal information provided that I already shared it with Booking.com or through the apartment reservation website?

The trash bean was literally next to the one and only window of the room

The room was nothing like the pictures
3.0 / 10.0
it was moderately clean.
The room did not resemble the pictures on booking.com, It was hot, no ventilation unless you opened the window and the door. The room faced the main busy road, even though we requested a quiet room at time of booking. So hard to sleep at night with party noises, trams and traffic going on all night. Not even a glass supplied to drink water, floor was dirty, tv did not work unless you unplugged the fridge, no other power point in the room and the linen was old and felt unclean, the duvet was stained. Would not recommend staying here at all.

Horrible Stay at Swiss Star Marc Aurel with Unwanted Intruder
Our experience at Swiss Star Marc Aurel was alarmingly distressing. We were greeted by a room that looked like a post-apocalyptic scene - broken lamp, dirty dishes, discarded clothes and sheets, a disturbing stained note, and shockingly, apparent bondage ropes. The room reeked of cigarette smoke.
After alerting customer support, we were relocated to another room. Though they were courteous, the new room was only marginally better, with a persistent unpleasant smell and a dysfunctional shower door.
Adding to our unease, someone had accessed our original room and disturbed the belongings, evident from the property management's photographs, pointing to dubious security.
With bed bugs to top it off, our stay at Swiss Star Marc Aurel was extremely disappointing. I advise others to avoid this property until substantial improvements occur.

The location was good, 12 mins ride from the main train station (Hauptbanhof). There are restaurants across the street.
Poor facilities. There wasn’t even glasses available for drinking water. Too expensive for the service provided.
