Unusual Property with great surroundings- stayed here for something different to do. Very quirky and beautiful.

Couldn’t use the balcony. Doors were weird to use. Would have loved to go downstairs too..

Absolutely stunning. A rare accomodation that provides an incredible feeling when staying. Like going back in time. Perfect location.

It’s a wonderful property, history meets modern. So unique. Lea was prompt with her communication. So much better than just a hotel room.

Lea responded quickly to our communication. The unit was a good size , comfortable bed. The location was also great

I think she could use a couple of nice chairs to watch tv. There was only one chair. It would have been nice to maybe have some paper towels or napkins available.

Staying at Living History was a very unique experience . We loved the rock walls and ferns growing from them in the bathroom. It was very artistically decorated. The stream flowing along the side of the building was quite special too. Its location was private , yet very close to everything special Hallstatt has to offer.

I would have preferred there to be better lighting.

We loved the property ! It was cozy and gave a rustic feel . It made us feel like we were in the hobbit house (which made us love it even more !)

Nothing to complain about .

It was fabulous, extremely clean. The owner set up a phone call( we used messenger) and she walked us us to the room and talked us through everything from opening the door too everything we needed to know about the apartment. Unfortunately we only said 1 day which is not enough time.

Some napkins or paper towels would be nice and instant coffee packets but the tea was just as good.

Very beautiful, unique kind of whimsical accommodation. It is in the center of Halstatt, just off the square, so not a lot of traffic. The hosts were helpful always answering in a timely manner.

There is a small river right outisde which can be loud with a lot of rain, but can work as white noise if you like that sort of thing. Maybe reception is not the best, because although there is a smart TV the screen freezed frequently whn trying to stream.

Location, uniqueness of the setting and building, design and decor of the rooms

Locks were challenging, instructions may have suffered a bit in translation, but we eventually figured them out. Reception was not in person due to family member of host being ill, and she respectfully avoided “in person” to not risk us getting sick.

It more than lived up to the advertising descriptions. The bed and pillows etc were very comfortable and the bathroom and shower area have to be experienced to appreciate how well it all works. The property has an ambience like no other place that we have stayed, it is extremely quiet and although close to the tourist activity it is just off the main track in its own little backwater with the mill stream the main sound to be heard. Due to the massive construction of the building the temperature remained very stable during our stay. Lastly if you arrive on the ferry from the station on the opposite side of the lake it is only a little over 100m from the ferry terminal.

Nothing other than the door key is huge and wont fit in your pocket

The history and location of this place is AMAZING! The location is superb. You could not ask for more. They have everything you could want. And the communication is wonderful. If you are lucky enough to be in Hallstatt. Please make sure to stay here. You will not be disappointed. The Fisher’s

Loved how it felt like we stepped back in time.

The bed was different. In America we have one mattress. They had two on one bed frame and there were not top sheets which I prefer. But overall it was fine.

Locatie is PERFECT!

Location excellent - could not find a more central spot. Unique property. It really is very different and like being in a mini castle. Very clean.

Outdoor area not great - but that would have been a bonus as didn’t expect it anyway. As you are in the mountain walls and it was exceptionally hot, they have a dehumidifier. The clothes rail is next to that. I hung my clothes up and they were all damp and smelt unpleasant so couldn’t wear them which was a shame. I just hadn’t thought about that.

The place was amazing, we loved everything about it. The hosts were wonderful people and very helpful. I would definitely stay again. Beautiful, historic property and perfect location to explore Hallstatt

Finding it slightly tricky- ask the host for written directions first.

Such a unique and lovely home Leia was very accommodating and easy to communicate with. We had a great time and would definitely recommend checking out if you are looking for a more unique place to stay.

A one-of-a-kind experience in one of the most quaint and beautiful towns in the Salzkammergut. We stayed in the downstairs apartment and the pics do not do it justice – Large amount of space with historic charm while still affording modern amenities, notably in the bathroom; the bathroom in and of itself, with its ancient doorway, is truly distinctive. The unit is right in the middle of downtown Hallstat, and Lea is a very warm, friendly and attentive host. Definitely stay here if doing overnights in the town!

So unique! If you are a lover of history and rustic accommodations, this is perfect. And the location on a quiet side street of Hallstatt was perfect, close to the main square, yet in a quiet area. Opening the windows to let in the fresh air and sound of the stream flowing next to it was perfect sleep tonic. WiFi worked well. Shower was excellent.

The parking hassles of Hallstatt! Big pain to get a spot in the public lot (which you have to wait for) and then take the shuttle to location. Also, Booking did not have the correct numbers on their notices, so contacting staff was challenging. Once I got the correct contact info, owner was a sweetheart.

Lea was an amazing host - she was so communicative, offered great suggestions in the area, and was all around very helpful! The property itself was stunning, it’s an idyllic historic home off of the main street, with a creek running by - it feels like something out of the movies!

What a stunning apartment, we loved everything about it and Lea explained the amazing history of this place…. The family have put a lot of work into restoring this beautiful home… The floor is heated and so is the mirror in the bathroom… I particularly loved the bathroom.. Bonus there are no stairs involved to access this place and it is about a 10 meters from the centre square… Perfect

Lea was incredibly kind and made our stay effortlessly enjoyable. Her introduction was exceptionally clear. The room was immaculately clean and tastefully decorated. We truly felt the history of Hallstatt.

Perfect location and super cute!!

We had a wonderful stay at this charming, historic apartment. It’s a beautifully preserved old building full of character and elegance. Despite its age, the apartment is very comfortable and includes all the modern conveniences one might need—reliable Wi-Fi and a very comfortable bed. The decor is tasteful and welcoming, and the little backyard and the bathroom are absolute gems. The location couldn’t be better, and the owner (Lea) was exceptionally attentive and helpful throughout our stay. Everything went smoothly and the key is a spectacle on its own 😄!!! We couldn’t have asked for more!

The location was great, right in the center of the old town. The apartment is really very nice. It's a refurbished and beautifully decorated space in a medieval building with tons of character.

The check-in process is a deal-breaker for this property. There is no actual "reception" like a hotel, but this was not apparent in the description. Instead, the host operates more like an AirBnB and meets guests with a key. That's fine... if the host actually meets you. On the day of our arrival, while we were already enroute, we received a message from the host that our check-in would now be "contactless" and that we should call the host for instructions. Switching to "contactless" at the last minute really means, of course, that host has decided that actually meeting guests is now inconvenient. We called when we arrived at the Hallstatt community parking area, but got no answer. We took the shuttle to the old town and found the apartment. We called again. We texted. We called a different number shown on the door. We called and texted via WhatsApp. After a half hour of standing at the apartment door in the cold, we went into a nearby hotel restaurant to warm up. We kept calling, texting and e-mailing with no response. The bartender called both numbers with his local phone, but also got no answer. It was an hour and a half from our first call before the host returned a call to the bartender with instructions on how to find a hidden key. As compensation, the host did offer to buy a round of drinks at a local bar and to pay the city tax for us. But the bar was closed, and €6 of tax doesn't even cover the cost of all the international roaming charges we got billed for every time an unanswered call went to voicemail. The host only allows a very narrow check-in window between 4PM and 7PM. If that's required of paying guests, there's no excuse for the host to be unreachable during that short time.

The suite was beautiful.

The customer service. They gave me all these instructions, which honestly, too much information when you are checking in late at night, jet lagged, and tired. The hostess scolded me for not reading the book carefully, which was not detailed enough in my opinion. And I understand we have to pay surcharge but who has change in 3 euros in advance handy when you haven’t had a chance to go to the atm. I stayed there only a few hours and didn’t have a chance to prepare. There are different types of travelers. And really didn’t like the fact that they had no luggage help and no luggage storage.

Awesome place in Hallstatt. Comfy and historical. We loved it here.

Everything was good

The hosts were really lovely, spoke perfect English and very responsive with any questions. The location was perfect, it was right off the main square. And the actual accommodation was perfection. It was cosy, clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable, the shower was good, and there were tea and coffee facilities.

The only thing is the check in is late 4-7pm, and check out is really early 9-10am. We were fortune enough to be able to check in at 2.30pm, but not everyone might be so lucky.
