Didn’t want to leave

We stayed in the Agung 2 room for two nights with mountain views. It was beautiful! We had planned day trips to see temple’s but decided not to go because we didn’t want to leave the beauty of Surya Shanti. The villa itself was lovely and enjoyed yoga, massage, pool and restaurant! The on-site chef accommodated options for vegan diet too.

The WhatsApp room service number had a slower response time compared to other places we stayed. It is very easy to walk out of your Villa and ask your questions at reception though.

A miniature world unto itself. Stunning views and lovely hosts.

It’s like a miniature world unto itself. Set amongst the most beautiful rice fields with jungle laden hills looking over you. Spectacular views. Nothing was too much for the responsive and friendly staff. Restaurant was great we ate there a lot. Two pools and complimentary guided rice paddy walk. Great value for money. Charming hosts.

There were ants in the room and dusty under the bed. Not a fan of an outdoor bathroom but that’s just personal preference. Something to keep in mind - We stayed in the family room which was lovely but top floor is not safe for younger children as big gaps and fall risk to the level below.

Most Idyllic setting I have ever had the pleasure of staying. A very intimate and private location with few bungalows in a spacious area with 2 pools and lovely restaurant setting. Supremely courteous and helpful staff. Villa excellent with fantastic views from balcony. We had a lovely scooter tour organised by the villa with 2 staff members and a hike/ work by another. Many nice restaurants along the main access road but none had a better food offering or quality than Surya.

Simply magical!

This whole accommodation experience was magical! From the time we were warmly greeted by Sepi, to the introduction to the gracious owner Joel, to the incredible views and to our exquisite villas, we felt like we were in a very special, peaceful place. We stayed in Agung 1 and 2, both giving expansive views to the mountains as well as providing us with what felt like our own private outdoor lounge room and beautiful pool area below. Hearing the frogs, birds and cicadas merely complimented our stay in such a naturally beautiful environment. The staff were incredibly friendly and always receptive and accommodating to any requests we made during our stay. The food provided was exceptional! Fresh and made with great care especially for my friend who is a celiac, she was even given homemade gluten free bread and pasta! I also enjoyed the yoga classes in the mornings whilst overlooking the misty mountains. Thank you all for making our stay so magical. We loved it and we will be back!

A truly memorable and refreshing stay

Everything was perfect, we had a truly memorable stay at the Surya Shanti. The hotel is a peaceful haven, where everyone is so kind and extremely helpful. The dishes are delicious, and we really enjoyed the restaurant’s cuisine. The yoga class is a wonderful activity, especially when combined with massages and the swimming pool. We were so sad to leave this place, but we are sure we will come back! Terima Kasih 🫶🏼

To improve the quality of your breakfast, you could slightly revise the offer with a few more options and perhaps improve the presentation of the Western breakfast dishes (specially the pancakes and sides with eggs) Otherwise, everything was perfect !

Stunning hotel - we will definitely be back!

The most stunning property - views from the pools were gorgeous. Loved our room which again had a beautiful view and spacious. The host Joel and his team were so lovely and they even did a surprise birthday breakfast for me with a cake and gift which was very sweet. We went out on a moped tour of Sidemen too and to the waterfall.

Perfect place to enjoy the real essence of Bali, relax and feel like in paradise, far from the crowd and the overtourism

Everything. This place was really an amazing surprise and discovery for us from the very beginning. We arrived very late in the evening (around 11pm) and they took care of us preparing a dinner and all that we needed. Joel and his staff made our stay a real dream and made us feel a special connection to Sidemen and its people. All the staff is really welcoming and they are like a big happy family. The position is very peaceful and quiet and made us really feel as we were in paradise. There are 2 pools, one in the front with a view on the ocean and one in the rear side. They were able to meet our request of vegan food and they suggested us lots of very interesting and authentic activities to do in Sideman area. The rooms are very well equipped with all the amenities you may need. They also make free yoga classes in the morning from their amazing open-air shala. In case you need something specific or you have a problem, do not hesitate to ask Joel, they will immediately find a solution for you. Excellent price for what you get.

Georgeous Views

The most beautiful place I’ve ever stayed! I stayed here as a solo traveler and loved my experience here. The views were gorgeous, and the room was comfortable. The staff members were friendly and helpful. Everything at the restaurant was delicious. The owner also helped me arrange a great scooter driver for a day trip. I will definitely stay here again the next time I come back to Bali.

Stunning views and great pools

Wow! What a nice boutique style place this is! Their bungalows are nicely located on a hill, providing a stunning view over Sidemen’s ricefields. With 2x swimming pools there is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy a tranquil holiday. Our 2x kids loved it! Their restaurant was really good. We had great food. Though, what makes this accommodation exceptional, is its staff that goes the extra mile for its guests. Thanks for hosting us. We enjoyed every minute of it! I would have rated an 11, if possible 😊

Exceptional - a highlight of our trip.

What can I say about this place - it was one of the highlights of our trip. Incredible family villa with stunning views over the pool and rice terraces. The food was exceptional, staff and owners incredibly welcoming and helpful. Even gave the kids a leaving gift. The gardens are immaculate and the two pool areas means there’s always a place to escape too for some peace or where the kids can let off steam without disturbing anyone.

Amazing place and view

This family-owned guesthouse is a fantastic place located in an amazing landscape. The rooms are clean and well-built, 2 pools, very good food and breakfast provided. This is a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the authentic Bali, far from the crowd and tourist places. Highly recommended. Joel and Sylvie, the owners, are very kind and even had a cute attention for our son before leaving. Definitely an amazing place!

Interesting stay in Sidemen

The staff is so kind and accommodating. My phone was stolen out of my scooter while I was riding it and the staff helped me out so much in getting a new phone by taking me to a nearby town and helping with police. The rooms are amazing and the views are wonderful. Loved the pool. Food was pretty good.

There was no electricity the first night in the upstairs ,so AC wasn't working and it was really hot , I didn't get any sleep the first night. They did comp my dinner because of the stolen phone issue. And they gave me a complimentary massage which was super nice. There also wasn't hot water in my room though.

Best place we have ever been

This is the most beautiful and most enjoyable place we have ever stayed at. The views are unbelievable and the whole place has a very quiet and relaxed feel to it. It also only has a few rooms so very often you have the feeling that you have the place almost to yourself which gives a very exclusive feeling. We stayed at one of the villas which have jaw dropping views from the terraces and which are very large and well accommodated. The restaurant is great (both for breakfast and dinners) and if you want there are many options up the road, from family run warungs to high-end restaurants. The staff is also incredible and will go out of their way to make anything possible, from scooter rentals to hikes, all at very fair prices. Most importantly, there is a culture of letting you enjoy your stay without pushing anything on you which makes you feel very at ease. If you want to do something, it can be arranged, If you want to do nothing at all, fine as well. The area is absolutely gorgeous, almost hard to grasp at moments. Spending sunset around the hotel pool is an incredibly romantic and relaxing experience. We are planning to come back to Bali and stay here as long as they will let us, this time we stayed three nights but we could easily have stayed a week. We even wanted to come back for a few days within the same trip but unfortunately it was already fully booked. If you get the chance to stay here, I would absolutely take it.

Exceptional

This is a stunning hotel nestled in the heart of Sidemen, overlooking the rice terraces. The included breakfast is fantastic as was dinner at the hotel's restaurant. The staff were so accommodating and went above and beyond. We would absolutely stay here again!

The hotel is a long walk uphill from other parts of Sidemen. We'd recommend hiring a motorbike unless you want to do a lot of walking!

Warm and welcoming, beautiful grounds

Great location. Amazing welcome into the property. Well groomed and beautiful grounds but a lot of insects and spiders.

The restaurant was not super accommodating. The room was large and well appointed but definitely felt more like glamping than a luxury hotel. I don’t think they advertise themselves as luxury accommodations so I was okay with that.

Could have been a lovely experience had there not been a mold issue.

The location is perfect - the view from the pool really beautiful.

There was a horrible mold smell in the upstairs room. My partner and I had a headache after ten minutes. We ended up having to sleep downstairs adjacent to each other on the couch. We spoke to the owner and he seemed to think it was just a ventilation problem - didn’t seem to realize the danger of mold and didn’t suggest that he would work to remedy the situation. We both were feeling sick for several days after. We were supposed to stay two nights and ended up needing to book an Airbnb for the remainder of the trip.
