Enjoy this private beach located at the opening of Mitchell Bay on the western side of San Juan Island. This home comfortably sleeps 6 people. It has two bedrooms, an extra sleeping room and two bathrooms. It is perfect for families, or a few couples wanting to relax and enjoy island life. This house has a strict 'no shoes inside' policy.
Upon entry to the home on the main level, you will find a queen-sized bedroom to your right. Across the hall will be a full bathroom. The home opens to the kitchen, dining, and living room space. The kitchen is very well equipped for preparing family meals. The dining table has a fantastic view out the large water-facing windows with ample seating for 6. Guests may also want to utilize the breakfast bar with seating for 5.
The living room offers two cozy couches facing the TV cabinet, which holds the satellite receiver as well as a DVD / VHS player and a selection of DVD's and VHS tapes. Unfortunately, the fireplace is not for guest use.
The upstairs of the home is equipped with a bedroom, an extra sleeping room and a 3/4 bathroom. The primary bedroom has a queen-sized bed with a large dressing-table and closet. The extra sleeping room is equipped with 2 sets of bunk beds and a queen bed, however, the maximum occupancy of this home still remains at 6 guests total.
Enjoy relaxing on the gorgeous deck while taking in the panoramic view of the bay and privately shared beach area. Guests can utilize the outdoor grill on beautiful San Juan summer evenings.
The house is ideally located and close to both Roche Harbor and Friday Harbor, approximately a 15-minute drive to either town. This area boasts many nearby hikes and parks including: English Camp, Young Hill, Bell Point, Roche Harbor Frisbee Golf Course, or the Westcott Bay Oyster Farm.
Note:
Cell service is spotty and there is a landline.
No fires at this house please.
Pets are not allowed at this property.
This home has a strict 'no shoes inside' policy.
Guests are not allowed access to the owner's garden. This is a private garden.
The beach is shared on both sides with private homeowners and guests are required to abide by the property boundaries while on the beach. Guests have access to a private section of the beach for this house and are not to access the whole beachfront.
This rental home has a 2 week (14 day) maximum length of stay. Reservations that are 2 weeks long will have a mandatory scheduled mid-stay clean on the 7th day.
The neighbors/owners do have two friendly, golden retrievers that periodically like to come and say hello. However, this is not a pet-friendly property for guests.
Please be advised, yard maintenance may occur during your stay.

House was very clean and in a quiet area. The view was amazing and the house felt very homey which was nice on the days we were stuck indoors due to weather. Matresses were very comfortable, we slept very well here!

This house is awesome! It is well loved by its owners, and the management company was easy to work with. The view is incredible. The area is beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed watching the wildlife and searching the tidepools for crab and other critters. It was a perfect escape for our family!

My family of five could not have asked for a better location on San Juan Island. Open Bay Beach house is really well situated on the island - very close to Roche Harbor (5-10 minutes for groceries, meals, etc.), English Camp (Young Hill - great hike), and Krystal Acres Alpaca Farm. The house is very comfortable and relaxing - it has a great deck overlooking the bay, which we enjoyed for meals and playing cards in the evening. The private beach was amazing - our boys loved exploring the tidal pools and catching crabs. We saw otters, harbor seals and bald eagles. We also really enjoyed playing pickle ball. We never turned on the TV. Just a great place - the owners were very kind and we enjoyed visiting with them. We did some great hikes on San Juan Island, including American Camp and Mt. Finlayson. We also ferried to other islands to explore. One of our favorite excursions was a half-day / sunset sailing trip through All Aboard Sailing - highly recommend. We left out of Friday Harbor, sailed around various islands and saw all sorts of wildlife - unfortunately, we did not see any whales. Maybe next time. Overall - it is a great place and would highly recommend to anyone planning a trip to San Juan Island.
