The mix of old world charm and modern life the half timbered houses, cozy cafés, and canals make it feel like a fairytale, while the food, bike culture, and relaxed pace make it easy to live and enjoy. Break fast not included but you can find nice places aroud for break fast.
Different floor levels inside a house can be really dangerous, especially at night.
With low light or when you’re half asleep, it’s very easy to trip and fall.
These level changes should be clearly marked to prevent accidents

The location is great. In fact, it cannot be better. 10mins walk to almost everything to see in Strasbourg.
The apartment itself is very nice, very clean and nicely designed. The beds were very comfortable too.
1- Transparency about the “upper floors”- Before booking, one cannot see exactly on which floor they will be. The ad says “upper floors” but this doesn’t mean much without more explanation. And you can’t cancel your reservation once you realise you’ll be on the 4th floor although you might be traveling with very old people. It would be more transparent to clearly say “no lift”!
Also, once you book, the confirmation says 4th floor for example. What it DOES say is that you actually need to go to the 5th floor to reach the first bedroom and to the 6th floor to reach the 2nd bedroom. I was with my parents, both 75+ years old and this was really difficult for them.
2- the host/owner’s behavior- when we got to the location, we couldn’t find the second code to open the second door. The code was indicated in the message sent through Booking, but only half of the message was visible by email. Anyway, we should have paid more attention to find the second code. However, we called the owner who is on the 1st floor to ask for it. And the first thing she said was “well, perhaps you should read your emails”! It’s not about the content but the way she spoke to us and she clearly showed that she was pissed off when she had to open the door to speak to us (we were literally behind her door-not that she had to walk or anything to find us) and she was all but unfriendly. Again, we should have paid more attention but this is not how you talk to customers, especially if you work in a business where the customer value or service is at the heart of the business.

Our host was always in Communication. He gave us information about parking and places to visit. The cleanliness and location of the house was very good. It will be my first choice when I come again. I recommend it. Hope to see you again. (It would be better if there was clearer information only for the location of the house.)
Strasbourg is a great city. The only thing I don't like is that it is a little more expensive than in other European countries.

this beautiful aparment is right in the centre above a shopping street, couldn't be better placed. Comfortable and warm even though outside was freezing. Nice litchen an two good double rooms. Great shower. messages and replies were quick and accurate. Chantal made some great recommendations for food etc
Only thing is steep stairs up to the apartment, fine for us but bear in mind if you have mobility issues

Absolutely stunning apartment in a genuine medieval house. Very spacious and a lot of light. Fully-furbished kitchen, modern bathroom, nice bedrooms. Location is 12/10, in the very heart of the Christmas beauty. Chantal, the owner, is very welcoming and nice. Highly recommend!

The rooms are beautiful, the location is good, and the owner is responsive. The food ingredients were expired, which I don't know it maybe belonged to the previous tenant.
Our room had a big problem with the water system, which was a very bad experience that we'd rather erase from our memory... I just want to share my daughter's feeling in a situation she'll never forget."There’s such a BIG PROBLEM with my stay here on the fouth floor. Because this is my WORST stay ever in my 19 years on Earth. I was just taking THE MOST NORMAL SHOWER EVER and suddenly the third floor just started to knock on my room’s door and yell at my father that his/her room was raining, the water start to fall from the ceiling and ask us for the reason. I was told to stop my shower with my shampoo and soap all over my head and body because of that and everyone pretend that it’s our fault. So they was just blaming me instead of room’s water system. I was standing there wet and cold waiting for the owner to came because the third floor room didn’t allow me to finish my shower😇😇....My daughter was upset and cried. The owner came within 10 minutes however she cannot find the solution to this problem. The owner rushed over to check and found that our family hadn't done anything wrong – simply taking a normal shower. We weren't playing with water or splashing it. The owner had TESTED by splashed water all over the room while her husband watched for leaks downstairs, but found no water leaks. Therefore, the issue was with the room's water drainage system. At last, the owner apologize to me and I am grateful for that but I was taken by the last thing she told me. She told me that IT WAS JUST A WATER^_^ so if it was just a water will I even have to write such long review like this in my life.
-Stairs are as many reviews . It's understandable, and we need to be prepared for that.
...I know that if I write a review, the owner might blame us, but I don't care because I didn't do anything wrong. ...Instead of finding a solution, they resorted to accusation and shouting.

Great communication from the property manager. Spacious accommodations.
The stairs. I could not have brought a suitcase up them. Thankfully we traveled with light backpacks and small overnight bags.

This apartment is utterly beautiful and could not be in a more perfect location, literally a few steps to the cathedral. The host was really responsive and everything was exactly as described. Highly recommend.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay: the apartment is spacious, full of charm, wonderfully cosy, and situated in the pedestrian neighborhood at the foot of the Cathedral. It is ideal for fully enjoying all that Strasbourg has to offer. Chantal, the host, is very kind, thoughtful and helpful, and made our visit perfect! We would have loved to have stayed longer!

Our apartment (La Petite France, 3rd floor, 2 bedrooms) was much more spacious than we had anticipated. Unbeatable location, very comfortable beds, cosy and warmly-decorated interior. Kitchen had everything we needed for a two-night stay. The owner supplied a useful list of recommended shops and restaurants both via booking.com and also in a folder on site.

Great location, comfortable and good value. We've stayed here three times now and will book for next year as soon as we know the show dates for the exhibition we come to attend.

Our stay at Carpe Diem Home was excellent. The location couldn’t be better - we were so central. The apartment truly was like a little home away from home. It was warm, inviting and spacious. Thank you!
We loved everything.

Lovely apartment in a beautiful old building. Very nice decor and in an excellent location. Kitchen is small but well equipped.
A little noisy when people were in the other apartments although this is to be expected in an old building. Slightly smaller than expected from photos.

The apartment was in the perfect location to explore the historic area of the city. We could hear the cathedral bells in the morning while enjoying our coffee. The space was clean and filled with charm. The host provided excellent recommendations on where to go shopping for necessities near by. We loved being able to go in the cathedral in the morning before the tour groups arrived - made possible by being just around the corner!
It was very hot during our stay, the host provides fans for the rooms which was very nice but it was still a bit stuffy at night.

The location was amazing, in the rooftops, looking at and hearing the cathedral bells was an incredibly experience. Well worth the stairs to the top, provided you are able bodied.

The location. Lovely property with everything we needed. Chantal, the host, kept touch throughout our stay.
The 4 flights of stairs! 😂🥵

Excellent location close to Cathedral, shops and restaurants.
For our age group 60 plus the 3 flights of winding stairs and then the further 3 flights in the actual flat proved a bit of a headache. The automatic light on the flights up and down didn’t stay on at the right times meaning half way down it went dark. We thought the kitchen wasn’t very well equipped with only three mugs with handles one of which was chipped and only one tea towel provided for our 4 day stay. Only cold water in the upstairs bathroom which is not very hygienic considering you are not coming down those stairs to wash hands in the other bathroom in the middle of the night after going the loo. We appreciate you did provide further towels and an extra tea towel on day three, but no further mugs. In hindsight this is not a flat suitable for us or our age range.

The proximity to the cathedral and location in general were excellent. The flat is absolutely immaculate, one of the cleanest holiday properties we have ever stayed in. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to all our friends and family. It is a very special place to stay - a rare find.

Location, cleanliness
Beds were a little uncomfortable.
One towel per person was not enough for four days.
9.0 / 10.0
This location is fantastic, it led to a jaw dropping experience.
The kitchen was prestocked with tea and coffee making supplies which we really appreciated.
Chantal ensured all needs were met and was available for contact.
The stairs are a bit hard to manage with suitcases, but adds to the quaintness of the apartment.

Excellent stay in every way, from the unbeatable location and views to the facilities. A very decent sized supermarket (Auchan) was just around the corner as well as several excellent boulangeries. Communication with the host was very good, with any questions swiftly answered and great recommendations offered. Check-in was quick and easy with the door codes provided.
One has to keep in mind that this is a triplex apartment that can be reached after four flights of steps. So, it may not be suitable for any travellers with mobility issues or for parties with heavy luggage.

Fantastic location, 2min walk to cathedral. Great shops, cafes, patisseries close by.
Lovely interior, decorated well. Loved watching people out and about and looking up at night at the cathedral lit up. Was wonderful hearing the bells of the cathedral.
Thoroughly clean and felt so homely.
The stairs, BUT totally knew there wasn't an elevator. I didn't have to carry the suitcases up, so all good.

Good apartment, helpful to have two separate bedrooms and some living space during the day. Host was very responsive and helpful, providing suggestions of where to eat etc. Helpful to have two bakeries down the same road, so we could buy fresh croissants each morning - location was excellent (albeit cathedral bells were disruptive).
Would have been helpful to be provided with dishwasher tablets and cleaning spray (to work down worktop and table) plus more toilet roll and kitchen roll! Bed mattresses were on a thin slatted base, so not suited for a heavier traveller.
Note: no washing machine in our apartment (first floor).

It was right in the middle of the old city. A perfect location. All the restaurants and the main cathedral was 1 min walk from the apartment. The apartment was very tastefully modernised.

The location is fantastic. The host ensures you have all details about the apartment and also gives info on where to make purchases for daily items - bread, groceries, wine, cheese, pastries etc.
As we arrived very late evening all shopping facilities were closed. It would be very good to have a small welcome kit of milk, tea, crackers, nibbles and even a bottle of wine from the region would be helpful
