The location was incredible and having a four-storey walk up that overlooked the piazza and the cobblestone streets inspired adventure. The piazza Navona is a stunning square filled with sculptures and fountains and patios and shops and people and music and life. If you tire of Navona, (which you shouldn't) the Pantheon and the Trevi are close walks away (less than ten minutes on foot!) and if you head west, The Vatican; south, The Colosseum and Roman Forum! I know everyone says Rome is walkable but it's walkable even for children and those who are less active. The Holiday Suites are located in a great neighbourhood and you're very central to the history of Rome with modern amenities. (Speaking of amenities, we loved the tub and the bidet in our room!) The air conditioning in the room was a welcome reprieve after being in Rome during one of the warmest weeks of the European heat wave and while the walls were thin, having few other guests in the building meant it was also quiet for when we needed that time to adjust to jet lag and the heat of the day. Access to the kitchen in Gemini Suites was great (please add instructions for how to use the microwave!) so we could eat all the fresh pasta and pastries off of real dishes rather than take out containers when we stuffed ourselves silly on Italian delicacies and eyes became larger than our stomachs. We don't speak very much Italian outside of knowing how to ask for gelato and cappuccino, so again, I appreciated the hosts' ability to converse with us in English via the Booking app and the rare in-person meeting in the lobby. Thank you. Grazie mille.
Instructions from the property came frequently and were very friendly but they could have been a little bit clearer. Gaining access the first day with all the codes and buttons was a bit of a challenge (obviously we figured it out eventually!) and despite the reassurances that the elevator works 'just fine!' we did struggle with getting the doors open on the trip up with the luggage and felt claustrophobic enclosed in the small space. After that, we just took the stairs. I decided to try one of the restaurant recommendations that I received by text but it was not a great experience -- the food was more expensive than expected, the quality was not where it should have been for that cost, and the servers did not seem to want to welcome obvious tourists so we were tucked away in the back, rather than outside on the patio where we wanted. I wondered if the host had some kind of commission to recommend it or maybe it is a favourite for Romans but we did not enjoy ourselves. In hindsight, finding a random, local place to eat would have been more pleasurable and those patios are plentiful.

The size and layout of the room
