One of the highlights of our stay was the location — right in front of the beach with convenient car parking, which made things much easier for our family. We had a question about how to turn on the boiler, and when we called for help, we received clear instructions very quickly. The person who assisted us was extremely friendly and helpful, which we really appreciated.
We stayed at this accommodation in Ireland last summer as a family, and unfortunately, it didn’t meet our expectations. Although it was advertised as having three rooms, only two were available to us. The third room, which included a toilet, was locked and inaccessible.
The living room and dining area were both extremely small, making it difficult for a family to relax or eat comfortably. The kitchen was also very compact and lacked basic amenities like a dishwasher. We found the plates, cups, and cutlery not properly cleaned, so we had to wash everything before using them.
The bathroom was quite old and in need of renovation. The Wi-Fi connection was unreliable throughout our stay. There was a small cabinet near the living room filled with miscellaneous items in disarray, which added to the overall sense of clutter.
We were also concerned about the safety of the electricity board, which didn’t appear secure. Another downside was the constant smell of fish and chips from the snack bar next door, which permeated the house. Lastly, the garden was untidy and poorly maintained.
Overall, the accommodation needs significant improvements to offer a comfortable and safe experience.

The location and views were fab. We stayed over to attend a dog show in Newtonwards. The Chippy next door was great and reasonably priced with large portions. Across the road is the beach and it was very pretty, the cars tend to speed past though.
It was a little grubby the table tops could have been wiped down. There was a lack of internal doors, the front door latch was broken. The garden was not secure and my dog escaped through the property next door, there was no fence. She crossed the road in front and found the beach, we caught her and she was very pleased with herself. However; if a car had of been coming then it may have been a different story.

The property has now been redecorated and more modern than these pictures it is of a very good standard across the road from the beach we stayed here for a family christening in Downpatrick but would definitely stay here again highly recommend it
You can’t have constant hot water when you put hot water on radiators come on but that’s the only minor thing

Beds are comfortable and house is clean and lots of clean towels
No hot water. For the price we would have loved that. But that wouldn't stop us going for two nights again but if there is not hot water or heating then bring price down perhaps ...

The veiws and the beach. The proprietor was friendly and helpful
The house was very basic and clean but not a thorough clean. The house had no outdoor furniture as advertised and the garden is badly kept. No iron or hairdryer or toiletries despite them being in the house description, the settee needs threw out it is wripped and no cushioning in the middle which means your sitting on wood and is very uncomfortable, half the house was locked up so I had to phone the proprietor to ask for the other room to be opened for my granddaughter who has autism and needed a room to herself as well as having the extra bathroom as there was 6 of us. The rooms were bright but it's all single beds which makes it look more like a hostel! No double bed to accommodate a couple which is quite stupid! The dining table and coffee table have seen better days and we're badly marked , the house has so much potential if it was done up properly and 2 table clothes would have at least made it look more homely and tidier, no pictures or mirrors on any of the walls other than in the 2 bathrooms. There's nothing in cloughey other than a big centra, a park and a golf club and only the chip buddy next door where the food was lovely. The house states its in circubin but its actually in cloughey so it's best to type in the chip buddy's address into your sat navigation to find it, the garden was a waste of space because there was no outdoor furniture and not maintained

Paul the host is very good with communication.
Paul extended our check out to a later time at short notice.
There is a fish and chip shop next door to Cloughey beach house.
The fish is amazing.
I would highly recommend Paul, Cloughey Beach house and the fish and chip shop.

The house was basic but met our requirements perfectly. Plenty of space to park, we had 3 cars plus a car on a transporter. The children loved the beach just across the road. The host was accessible and pleasant any time I phoned, and the chippy was very handy
Perhaps another socket in the kitchen would help and a door from dining room into the hall.

The view of the beach on door step
Had to clean floors and fridge on arrival.
No electric in room above the chippy, had to keep asking the chippy to flick the trip switch on but it kept going off again. The trip switch flicked off for all the house at 8pm, we were in darkness. Some of the radiators upstairs didn't work which wasn't great in the month of January - would say house needs alot of tlc inside.

I loved the view, very nice for a summer day
Lovely small town
Lots of kitchen utensils
Spacious rooms
Parking spaces
There were 2 bottles of water for us
Didn't like that we were booked last minute on the 25th of December and the host informed that the house was not ready, I was already on my to the property 1 hr and 40 min drive away. Host was not willing to make any accommodation as he was having Christmas dinner with his family.
We then drove back home checked in the next day in the morning, driving 2 hrs and 40 mins to get there
The host didn't make the house parking available only after I called to inform that there is no place for the 2 Cars he then came over to open de gate to park the cars.
The ground floor was not clean as I prefer it to be
The shower is very very small but good water pressure
No heating in the kitchen
Very cold ground floor, seems like the heating is not as good there
One of the bedrooms upstairs had one bed and the heating was not working there, it was a very cold night

Stayed here with my husband and 4 kids aged from 10-17 in August 2022. Lovely quiet residential area, property has quite a large grassy garden. Come out of the property, cross the main road and you are stepping down onto a beautiful beach. Lovely soft sand, tide is in during the morning and evening. Great view! Often carried my breakfast out and ate it on the beach listening to the waves. Weather was absolutely fantastic during our stay which was a bonus. Locals seemed very friendly. Short walk brings you to a well stocked grocery shop. In the other direction, there is a nice playpark for younger children. 4 bedrooms were bright and quite clean. one room with shower and toilet, 1 with bath and toilet. OFCH provided plenty of warm water when we figured out it was set to wrong time. TV had a lot of channels available, cupboard with a lot of DVD's and books also provided. Carpet and wooden flooring seemed recently laid. Host was friendly and courteous, replied promptly to phone correspondence and quickly attended to any problems we had. Bins, bin bags, hoover, ironing board provided. Plenty of towels available. Bed linen was clean. Downstairs all open-plan. Lovely thick toilet roll provided. Property was well aired prior to our arrival. Chippy joined to property, although because our visit was at the start of the week, it was closed and we didn't get to sample anything from it. Microwave, toaster, kettle and oven worked fine. Good selection of cups, plates, bowls, glasses. Affordable. Would stay there again.
Location was a little confusing- address on the Booking.com site kept referring to Kircubbin, however property is in Cloughey which is 10-15mins across the peninsula. Search for Chip Buddy, Cloughey to find property location. Had emailed host through Booking.com few days prior to our visit, and got no reply- but phone communication was excellent during our stay. Could only find 3 forks when we landed, but when made aware the host provided ample more cutlery. No teabags, sugar, cooking oil, tin foil etc but local shop was able to provide these. We left whatever non-perishables we didn't use behind for the next guests. No kitchen scissors or sharp knives. Kitchen is quite narrow. One wooden board in middle of floor is slightly higher than the others and we seemed to keep catching our toes off it. No icebox/freezer which wasn't ideal during the hottest week of the Summer. Good fridge room though. All beds were single beds with single quilts. Drain from bath was slow to empty, quite often overflowing over the garden. Only 1 toilet had hand soap available. One hall light had no bulb in it, but others all worked fine. 3 tall fellas had to watch coming up the stairs as there is a low bit to duck under for a couple of steps. But nothing serious enough to spoil our stay. Cloughey is a small place with not many things to do apart from the beach, but lovely to get away from hustle and bustle when on holiday, and as we had our car we could travel to nearby places.

Bedrooms clean with clean bedding.
Excellent location right across from the beach.
Weather was amazing during our stay which was great as wee didn't need to use the house much during the day.
Little storage for clothes...2 small wardrobes in a house that sleeps up to 12 people.
Broken kettle, 4 forks, very old fashion TV which we had to tune in ourselves. Paintwork not great with many holes in walls and floor. Outside furniture not great condition and broken.
House could be doing with an update especially the downstairs living areas.

Location
The house wasn’t very clean, booked for 7 people and only 6 beds available. Could not bath the kids on the first evening as we had not heating or hot water, the host call out the next day and got the boiler working but before he did he said that if it didn’t work we could travel 6 miles to his B&B and have a shower there. The house was attached to a chippy next door so you could smell the fryers when upstairs in the bedrooms. Had to ask the host to give us excess to the second bathroom that was advertised as it had a walk in shower as the shower was over the bath in the first bathroom to be honest if would be okay to use as long as you were under 5ft. There was not freezer. The garden furniture has seen better days.
Looks like there may have been a fire in the house sometime ago as there was soot on the electric metre

House was right beside the beach and a short walk to the shop.

Beds were super comfy, also great location for a family stay, plenty of beds, warm and cosy, towels provided and a great dvd collection!
The place was very run down, paint off the walls, blinds were falling apart. There were no basic essentials left out such as shampoo and soap, milk, tea, coffee etc. I have stayed in much cheaper places that will always provide plenty of essentials and soaps and shampoos in the shower. If you are tall you won't fit in the shower as the wall is curved over. The TV was incredibly outdated, works fine, we watched a few movies but would be nice to have some better features with the home for the price point.
