St Kenelm

These cottages are great. They are located in such a beautiful private little cul-de-sac of other cottages for the castle, and I love staying here. I have stayed in this one before, so knew what to expect. It is a good layout, great kitchen and living area, lots of windows and a view out to the beautiful courtyard. We come here for a festival at the castle so it is ideal, just a walk across the field, which I notice has now got an actual allocated pathway, a lot easier to find on our way back at night.

I had the only room with a full length mirror, I noticed the others didn't have a mirror at all, meaning they all have to grapple with the bathroom to get ready. We are all wearing costumes for our festival so it is kind of essential to have a mirror in the rooms. My room, though had the mirror, did not have any kind of dresser/table, surface space for me to lay out accesories. Also essential! (and there is room for one) I had to bring up one of the small tables from downstairs and the ironing board to use as my dresser, which I recall I did have to do last time (though I did put them back afterwards) Bathroom window could do with a damn good clean of all the years of cob webs on the inside edge.

The position was lovely, very peaceful. Great for exploring the area on foot or by car. The accommodation was very tastefully done in very attractively renovated old buildings. it has a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable lounge area. Beds really comfortable too with good wardrobe space for a short stay. Great shower!

There are a lot of steps so it was a bit tricky for my 86-year-old aunt. The single bedrooms are perhaps a little small but very comfortable nevertheless
