Friendly welcome by the lovely Peter and his beautiful dog Grace. Local to the area we were visiting In a quiet location yet close to amenities. Lots of history to the property and surrounding properties. Warm cosy with lots of character. Home from home. Very comfortable place. Suitable facilities for longer stay. Included towels hair dryer dressing gowns, tv and means for cooking and chilling foods.

Have no negative comments.

Home away from home

Peter is the kindest host and went out of his way to make us feel at home. It felt very much like home with a large room overlooking the working dairy farm If you like cosy and friendly this is for you, and the best thing, you can't hear a sound at night!

A lovely house in an idyllic location. So quiet. Got to chat with the cows! Peter welcomed us and showed us around. The room was really comfortable with a lot of extras such as tea, coffee, biscuits, milk and a hairdryer. Even better, a fan! Always good for a menopausal woman! We will definitely be back.

The only thing is we would have preferred an en-suite bathroom. As there was no one else staying however, it wasn't a problem and the bathroom was right next door. This may be an issue with booking.com as that said it was en suite. But that was a small thing compared to the rest of our stay. We wish we'd booked our whole trip at this property.

Pleasant stay

Location was beautiful , peaceful ,garden full of ripe fruit trees . Ideal location to stay for our nieces wedding , which was up the road . Peter was a lovely host , helpful, welcoming . Peter had put a fan into our room to cool it down a little.

Requires a little more house keeping , bedroom was dusty , marks on the carpet . Lots of stuff between the second double glazing . The separate bathroom (although next door )

Perfect.

Above all, a kind, considerate, interesting and interested host. And the building itself is large and also interesting, in a rural, quiet location, with substantial garden, yet close enough to the A52 for easy travel. Spacious bedroom and bathroom, all very clean. Only 3 rooms, so a feeling that we and the other guests were welcome guests, not just numbers.

There was nothing for us not to like! But if you have difficulties with stairs, which had bends and were rather slippery polished wood, it would probably be best to talk with the host before booking.

High levels of comfort, cleanliness and character. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. We were attending a function at The Folly and the B&B was ideally located being a 5 minute walk away.

No areas of concern. Signposting is restricted due to the conservation status of the Area.

COWS!!

We had the pleasure of staying at Mackworth house before we attended the local download festival. Upon arrival we found parking in beautiful surroundings. Peter and his loyal companion olive was incredibly hospitable and a great chat showing us all around our spotlessly clean room and it's amenities. The highlight was watching the cows from the window. A grand selection of tea and biscuits available and sky on TV meant we never struggled to find something to watch in the pm. Close to a good little pub in the farmhouse. Once we have rebooked our tickets for next year's festival we shall be rebooking here as it's the perfect little unwind before 5 days of metal.

Only downside is that we found the pillows to be too squishy. This b&b is also on a working farm so there are noises and smells that go with that but that didnt bother us

Beautiful farmhouse stay with a homely but grandiose feel, in a gorgeous quiet location!

The B n B was a gorgeous farm cottage style inside with grandiose feeling to it. I stayed in the Topaz room and it was huge! The robes were a nice added touch and the room had a fridge along with all the teas and coffees you could think of. They were kind enough to let me order Amazon to them in readiness for my arrival. It was peaceful and comfortable. I stayed in the area for a wedding where the venue was 10 minutes away. Uber eats delivered Sainsburys for me! A pub was only a 5 minute walk away. Very homely feel which was just lovely. Owner was lovely and so was his brother who checked me in!

Loved everything, would be good to have an iron in the room, would be the only thing needed.

B&B done right

I stayed for a short work trip. The property was very easy to find with great communication before hand from the owners. It was easy to park and I was met by extremely friendly owners who gave me a quick tour and showed me to my room. My room was very spacious with all the amenities I required. Bed was so comfortable and I had a great night's sleep. The surrounding area is so quiet and peaceful. I asked about local walks and I was recommended a few routes and I explored the local area. I then had dinner in a local pub. Overall I was very pleased with my stay and If I am in the area again I would not hesitate to book here again.

Comfortable, clean, and very hospitable.

We had a great welcome from Peter & Al, Peter is a very talented person! Unexpectedly we had a whole suite of rooms to ourselves on the top floor with a very comfortable large bed in a spacious room with views of the countryside, a lounge with large TV, kitchen and bathroom. This historic farmhouse is situated in a lovely rural situation yet near to the town and main routes. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Perfect

Beautiful quiet location and tranquil setting for us 2 and our dog Ronnie, very good range of pubs within walking or short drive distance from property…… Lovely farm feel with livestock and countryside back drop all around. Hosts were very friendly and very on hand greeted with smiles and lots of information for us of places to visit locally. Very clean room very comfortable bed very well equipped all round with newly fitted bathroom facilities, we had a lovely break and our Ronnie enjoyed too. Will certainly book again many thanks for accommodating us last minute at a very good rate. Mark Dawn Rondog x

A great stay

I was travelling for work and the quiet farmhouse was exactly what I needed for a good sleep. Spacious room and a private bathroom plus a nice view over the dairy. The owner Peter was very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was continental and reasonably priced with fresh coffee, warm croissants, etc. Highly recommend.

Comfy, peaceful, welcoming and fun!

I have to start with the host Peter. He was such a help from start to finish. I was staying there with my partner for a wedding, and he helped me with taxi numbers well in advance, and didn't mind at all that we were delayed in our arrival due to the rain and traffic and stayed up to greet us. He and his partner were so hospitable and the next morning (after an incredibly good nights' sleep in the most comfortable bed I think I have ever slept in), he spent some of his time describing the history of the house, the estate and area which we were very intrigued by. We were all out late the next night and once again, Peter made us feel like we were just returning home as when we arrived back the house was warm, lights on and dogs barking. The breakfasts were great, fantastic coffee. The location is stunning and this is a must stay if you are in the area. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Not much! There might be opportunity for a slightly larger breakfast area but loved the charm!
