Steep stairs led to the bedroom. This took away from the comfort of this property.

A lovely traditional place to stay on a hidden little street. The "room" is a little house: a downstairs with entry room, living/eating area, toilet, and outdoor shower and soaking tub. Upstairs--a very steep set of stairs--is a large room with a shoji divider. The front room has an area to have luggage, hang clothes, and a chairs to sit and read, while the back room has the very comfortable futons. There is a stylish bathroom and shower upstairs as well. The staff were thoughtful and kind.

Absolute Perfection – The Best Hotel Experience of Our Lives This was, without a doubt, the best hotel experience we have ever had. From the moment we arrived, our host went above and beyond to make our stay in Kyoto unforgettable. He was incredibly kind, thoughtful, and genuinely cared about making sure we had the best possible experience. He helped us with so many things during our stay, including finding us a restaurant reservation. He even went to the restaurant himself and waited there so we wouldn’t lose our table. That level of kindness and dedication is something we have never experienced before. On the day we left, he carried our luggage all the way to the metro station and helped us find the correct exit and route for our journey. He treated us like family rather than guests. We have traveled to many places, but we have never met someone as wonderful and caring as this host. He is truly one of the kindest people we have ever met, and his hospitality made our trip to Kyoto even more special. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. If you are visiting Kyoto, you simply have to stay here. Nothing else compares. This hotel set a standard that will be impossible to beat, and we will always cherish the memories we made here. Thank you for giving us the most incredible stay and for making our time in Kyoto absolutely unforgettable. We can’t wait to come back. ❤️

Beautiful place to stay, a new favorite. Very comfortable, enjoyed the the onsen, and the traditional beds were very comfortable. Everything felt very intentional and peaceful, had a very relaxing stay.
