Fairytale stay in the most amazing location.

The Saxonis House and Villas were like something out of a fairy tale. The hostess greeted us as we got there. Each morning, we were provided with an amazing breakfast in the most amazing location.

The room was large, clean and with the most beautiful energy. The owners feel like family and always happy to assist. Breakfast is delicious, served on the small terrace outside. So welcoming to the start of a new day.

Ideal base camp for several hikes in the Vikos Valley area

Nicely renovated old mountain houses. Even moskito nets are integrated in the window frames, which assure deep sleep with open windows. The venue looks like a village in the village 😃. Very attentive service team and landlord Vasili. Highly recommended: Take the Greek breakfast (varies daily, freshly made by Anna 👏) at the spacious terrace as part of a very green courtyard. Then you don’t need more for a good start in the day!

It looked beautiful . Our room was lovely and the beds were comfortable. It is well situated in a stunning village

There was nobody around when we arrived at 4pm and had difficulty contacting the host by phone when we tried to check in. Fortunately a helpful friend of his helped us out. We never met the host which was a bit disappointing as it sounds likdd we he and his wife are fantastic

An unforgettable experience in excellent, unique and original houses and rooms

Papigo is a wonderful ancient village, with a spectacular view on the 4 mountains called The Towers, immersed in a sublime silence. Saxonis Houses offers large and comfortable rooms, with an elegant equipment, full of nice old objects; breakfast is really excellent: every day different pies and cakes, fresh fruit and bread, and at the end a delicious Greek yogurth. The stuff is extremely kind: Vassili, Anna, and Dimitri are nice, sweet and very helpful; they offer good suggestions about the several tours you can make in the surroundings or about the various restaurants; and Vassili offers his very good wine and his homemade Tsipouro. They make really unforgettable this unique experience!

Stunning location in Papigko

From the moment we arrived Vasili welcomed us whole heartedly. We were a little tired from having walked from the designated car park to Saxonis but Vasili whisked our bags up to our room. Our room was well appointed in lovely old time decore. We loved our room that overlooked the peaceful village and spectacular neighbouring mountains. It was rather refreshing to sleep with the windows open at night. Vasili was excellent in suggesting activities we could undertake and where to go. Both he and Anna were excellent hosts who genuinely greeted every guest each time. The breakfasts- what can I say! Anna’s prepared different home made treats each day to complement breakfast. The yoghurt with honey was outstanding. Vasili and Anna would make coffee of your choice. Everything was prepared with a smile. As it was summer, we sat outside in the courtyard, covered with vines and looking out to the mountains. It was a great space where you could meet and interact with other guests. We absolutely loved our stay here and would recommend Saxonis to anyone.

I'd go there again in a heartbeat

We had a lovely rustic apartment with heavy wooden beams and plenty of good but not extravagant amenities, eg. a spacious kitchen, well-lit and easy to work in. The room had windows to the mountains and thich stone walls that retained the heat but in summer would be cool. Best of all the staff, Anna and Vassilis, were delightful, warm and obliging.

You are staying with Vasilis!

More spectacular than Yosemite, the Vikos Gorge is wonderfully under-visited. The village of Papingo is the perfect base. Getting there takes concentration on the 21 hairpin bends - but they are well laid out and the views demand slow speed anyway. The village at the top is lovely and the hotel easy to find, down the narrowest of lanes to a spacious car park. When i paused to check that the route really was down this narrow route, I was told with much smiling - "you are staying with Vasailis, all is good". And it is! There was a marvellous village wedding on the night of our stay and Vasilis had given us a room in his own house behind the hotel to allow a retreat from the celebrations, which went on until 07.00 next day with music, fire crackers and much joy. You will be treated with care here, don't miss this place.

Extraordinary accomodation in traditional small houses

Really extraordinary accomodation! Rooms are in small traditional houses with little patios, green, gorgous niches and charming places to sit. Extremly friendly, open and supportive owner. The village itself is great and almost without any traffic. For people in good hiking condition, the village can be the direct starting point for hiking tours into the Vikos gorge or up to the mountains. Really to recommend.
