Αura Cave

Interesting place to stay - liked the Cave features.

Seemed a little humid and needed to keep the dehumidifiers on water emptied from the holding basin daily. Staff said they would have done it as well. Nice welcoming beverage they provided.

Unique property close to Fira, great views and private pool a bonus. Very accommodating storing our bags before and after our stay.

We found the rooms quite hot. Kitchen lacked items to make a meal if you wanted to.

Enrik was excellent. We arrived late in the evening and he met us with the room key as soon as I notified him that we had arrived. He was also really helpful with suggestions for places to go (beach clubs, restaurants) and was able to provide transportation (at a very reasonable cost) to/from the beach club. Additional plus, he had a kitty named Bonnie who was too cute for words. Aura Caves is also close to the main Fira area... shops, restaurants, church, etc.

The place is built into the mountain. There was one air conditioner right when you walked through the front door to the unit but only fans (and dehumidifiers) in the bedrooms. In the heat of the summer, this is a challenge. Also, in my opinion, Aura Caves would not be appropriate for anyone with mobility issues. Luggage has to be carried/pulled up a street to get to Enrik's unit (the closest thing to a front desk) and, unless you are staying in one of the two units in the same area as Enrik's unit, you will be lugging your bags up steep steps (no handrails, etc).

The location was great. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The water pressure was great. The host was prompt to reply.

The deck was not clean and the pool was still empty from winter. The booking site photos and 'features' showed both the deck and pool available for use, and so we were very disappointed that we were not able to use either and the host did not tell us in advance that these amenities would not be available. Many of the other hotels and guest suites had their pools open. The tables and chairs were worn, and the shower curtains were mouldy at the bottoms (the cave aspect makes for very humid air, even with dehumidifiers running 24/7).
