We were able to walk to the historical centre and Ortigia very easily

A good welcome from the local bus station - a good job as it was extremely hot. Thank you. The apartment is well equipped (fortunately the air conditioning is able to cope).
Unfortunately the location leaves something to be desired - not being in the main tourist area of Siracusa. You can sit out on the balcony, but all you can see are air conditioning systems and down pipes to the rear of adjoining properties.
