disappointing for the cost

Breakfast was good

The room was clean when we arrived but no cleaning whilst there, bins were full, clean towels only after 3 days and we had to use the towels to mop the floor in the bathroom as water came up from floor

Dissapointing, wouldn't come back

The location is excellent

Breakfast had very few choices. They refresh your room every 3 days. Despite we noticed that when we booked the room, we realised that it's cumbersome. We asked for two chairs, but they brought only one, stating that those were the property rules, only one chair per room, no matter that we had paid for two passengers

Excellent value for money

This place can be rented throughout the year by students, so it is not just a room but a real studio, spacious and equipped with everything! The windows are big so the rooms are luminous. You can even wash and dry your clothes.

Maybe not enough chairs in the breakfast area for the room capacity of the building. Also, the drain of the shower was clogged with hair from previous occupants. Would be nice if the cleaners checked such aspects as well.

Affordable stay at a great location

Amazing location - 20 mins max walk to the castle and Edinburgh centre. 10 mins to Haymarket station and nearest tram stop. Great facilities and nice room size.

Breakfast buffet is only Monday - Friday, not an issue just something to be aware of. No parking onside but we used Justpark next to Haymarket and it was cheap and only 10 min walk away.

Value for money

This place is perfect for couples and friends. Rooms are clean and cozy with kitchenette. Place has great vibe with open common space for relaxing, playing or simply hanging out. Staff are nice and friendly. Our room had lovely view of city which made it perfect.

The breakfast as mentioned in the name of property is not available on weekends. However, pantry still has plenty of food. Room service is scheduled so it can't be on your wish day. Need to make sure which day you are in so ask for room service accordingly.

A reasonably comfortable and not unpleasant stay to be fair but very badly let down after I checked out when I notified

Room was reasonably sized and had good kitchen facilities including fridge, kettle and plates and cutlery and a sink for washing up. Staff was helpful during our stay. Good location for central Edinburgh.

No car park at Altido so you have to park at a different location and those car parks can be expensive - so factor this in when considering price as the charges in central Edinburgh are expensive. The property has a feel of a students accommodation about it albeit a fairly comfortable one, for example there were washing machines and vending machines and what looked like study pods in the main reception area. Let’s call it a “STUTEL”.

The staff were lovely and accommodating. Free breakfast was handy, and it was walkable/busable to anywhere in Edinburgh. Media options and WiFi was good also

Disappointing

The room was spacious and quiet. From the eight floor we also had a beautiful view of the canal. Shower was good with good lighting.

Room was not cleaned. I found hair and debris in the drawers. Lamp on the desk was dusty. Upon arrival there was a distinctive smell of burnt milk in the kitchenette. The larger drape was hanging missing a couple of hooks. My husband fixed it with some effort. Bed was small, uncomfortable and noisy. In the bathroom the sink was super small and the toilet flush took ages to become quiet after flushing. Light on the bed was only on one side and it was minimal. We moved the desk lamp to the side of the bed that was missing a lamp Choices at breakfast were minimal. No eggs. Bananas and apples for fruit. Since the hotel is run by students every morning flatware and napkins were in different locations. To find them you needed to go on a treasure hunt. We also didn't like the long walk to get to the room passing by a common aerea that looks like a study room where we also had our breakfast. The structure is in fact a student dorm rather than a hotel. Quite nice as a dorm. Quite poor as a hotel. One need to use keys to access the elevator. What a bummer!

To be really honest: the breakfast was the only disappointing part of the experience: not enough bread, mostly only cheese available for your bread, sometimes not enough plates. It did get better on the final day though...

Good location and nice place

Sharing areas. Kitchen, good location. Friendly staff. There is area for laundry. Coffee was very good.

Breakfast was very basic. No iron in the room. Room floor was dirty and not clean. Bathroom sink was almost blocked and they didn't fix it even though we asked them to do.

People working there are lovely

It wasn’t well organized. On our last day, someone walked into our room. The same happened when we arrived, got a key card and when we got to the room, someone’s belongings where there.

Ok but don't expect much

Central location, easy to walk to the main sights. Clean room but trash was not taken out for 4 nights.

The "double" bed could barely fit two people. The breakfast was continental, so pastries and coffee mostly. Some yogurt and 1-2 types of fruit were available. Always a line for the one coffee machine.

Not very good value for money but in a quiet area and quite a good location.

Just the location that was good

No hand wash supplied in the room or shampoo. I had to go out and buy my own. Not ideal especially after the pandemic I would have expected hand wash to be provided. If you got back to the hotel at night ( not even late at 10.30pm) there was nobody on the desk and I had to wait for someone to leave the hotel to let me in. Also when I checked in I left my luggage behind the counter and was told it would be there for me to pick up. It wasn’t it was in a room that I had to find with loads of other bags.

Bed was extremely uncomfortable. There were building works going on outside which were really loud from early morning, which I know is not the properties fault but this with the uncomfortable beds meant we didn’t sleep the entirety of our stay

Rooms lovely great location 10 min walk to grass market / castle, free breakfast (toast, fruit cereal), free pool table / ping pong and other facilities

Bedding wasn’t once changed in a 5 day stay, asked staff twice and wasn’t ever changed, had to request fresh towels daily and this was also forgotten

Exceptional

Nice, modern and comfortable. Very spacious which was nice. Friendly, helpful and available staff. Awesome communal facilities down the bottom - lounging, games, reading, washing, the works. Plus hot drink machine - delicious hot chocolates.

Breakfast could have been better - efficiency of restocking, some lengthy wait times. But the food was nice and the staff were very busy so we were still happy
