Stayed 2 nights in this beautifully renovated cave apartment. Loved the location as it was just a few minutes walk to the centre of town, yet in a quiet and peaceful spot. The Host gave good recommendations for restaurants. We tried a couple of them and food was really good.

this enchanting suite was such a pleasure to stay in! we stayed for two days and loved the cave vibe, the proximity to the sassi (you’re right in it), the attention of the kind host and the treats left to make cappuccino, tea and toast and jam in the morning. it had good heating as it was a bit chilly when we were there. it’s such an incredible experience to sleep in a cave! the room has modern amenities, a comfy bed and in spite of being in a cave setting, had natural light and ventilation from the doors and window above the door. matera is an unforgettable village to experience with its labyrinth of ancient stone pathways and structures. i’m not sure if i’ll ever have the privilege of experiencing such a surreal setting again. if you can, book this and have the time of your life exploring the magic that is Matera.
