Old building character combined with today’s comfort needs
Bedroom curtains could benefit from blackout linings to keep out street lighting

Room was spotless and very comfortable overlooking the harbour, the windows are single glazed, so you do hear a bit of traffic noise, but the road is not too busy. The staff (Richard and Paris) are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them, we dined in the hotel both nights and the breakfast and meals were freshly cooked with a good menu plus special board.

A fantastic location overlooking the sea and close to the town centre.
The lasagna was a wee bit of a failure.

So glad we stayed here!! Really charming old pub, spacious and quiet room with a comfy bed, and friendly staff. Our room even had a distant view of St Micheal’s Mount. Wish we’d stayed longer.

Excellent location for the Scilly Ferry. Friendly. Nice food. Attractive setting. Room 2 was nice, spacious, good view.
Their booking.com account was hacked leading to lots of spurious scam messages which I reported but which weren’t fixed.

A cheerful, character full place, with comfortable large rooms above the tried-and-true pub. Bonus: our room looked out to Harbour, just meters away from a Spanish galleon that had popped in for weekend. Other bonus: TLC from all staff concerning my knee injury. The ice pack was most appreciated.
Friendly, helpful staff, beautifully preserved historic pub, great food - what was not to like?

We were made to feel so welcome right from the moment we arrived… food, room and staff absolutely the best! On top of that - the icing on the cake was the location 🥳 Opposite the ferry check in over to the Scilly isles, very close to huge harbour side long stay car park, and close to Penzance railway station… what more can I say. The Dolphin is a gem! Thank you Richard and team - we will not forget our recent stay… and will return x

There are only 3 rooms. Very quiet. The room was very clean and the bathroom was newly remodeled. Paris, the host was excellent. Greeted us warmly and showed us to our room. The breakfast was made to order and excellent. We also had our evening meal and it was very good. They stored our luggage safely during the day. It is 50m from the Jubilee Pool.

The place was perfect as I was travelling to the Scilly Islands the next day.

Only one very tiny negative, couldn’t find a light switch in the breakfast room so ate early breakfast by fairy lights 😂

We’ve stayed there often and it never disappoints. Good food in very comfortable surroundings.
Very difficult to drop off your luggage. No parking outside and it’s on the corner of a very busy road with lots of yellow lines!

Warm welcome from staff who were all very helpful. Good choice of meals for dinner, and excellent breakfast included. Location opposite quay for departures/arrivals to/from Scilly is just ideal and greatly facilitates going to/from the Isles via the Scillonian ferry, well worth paying a slightly higher charge for an overnight stay. Our room was very spacious with everything provided that we could have asked for.
Nothing to dislike.

The history and friendly staff of the quirky setting. A lovely room with a fantastic view of St Michel’s Mount. Lots of little touches like a book case, tidy hangers in the wardrobe space and bathroom window flowers. Having old fashioned shops, the local swimming spot and a great restaurant The Barbican nearby were a bonus.
The noise of trucks in the morning and late night drinkers

The Dolphin Tavern is a charming 1585 building with plenty of character. Directly across the road from the entrance to ferry terminal for Scilly Islands. A bus stop just across the road for day trips.

We stayed here just prior to a trip to the Scilly Isles and it’s well placed if your getting the boat. It’s right on the harbour front and an easy walk into Penzance for shops and restaurants. The room was spacious and looked newly refurbished as was the bathroom. The food exceeded expectations and breakfast was really good. There is a little noise from the front of the Hotel but no more than you would expect. The owner and staff are very helpful and polite a really good pub stay.
The shower was blocked on both days limiting its use to no more than a couple of minutes, we did report on day one, but we got by no problem.

The staff were friendly and helpful (recommending places nearby to visit or to eat at).
The breakfast was fantastic.
The shower was good (good pressure and temperature) and the facilities in the room were great.
The general sound proofing from outside was limited. A sash window downstairs had not been shut properly and was banging within its frame during the night (found out in the morning).
I have a preference to black-out curtains, these curtains may as well have been transparent!
The bed frame had a footboard, which is a hinderance to me (6'5" tall), but bed itself was comfortable.
Towels (white) had some stains on.

The position just opposite the ferry departing for the scilly islands is superb, and a short walk from the station along the seafront.

The room has relexed comfort, excellent shower and binoculars to get a closer look at St Michaels mount, birds etc.
Breakfast served on time. good selection
