Kyoto Villa Chiyotsuru

Close to transport and great for a family to stay and go on day trips around Kyoto.

Some more clothes storage would be helpful

Kyoto Villa Chiyotsuru was a great stay for a family of four over six nights. It's centrally located near Omiya station, so any point of interest is easy to reach, be it Arashiyama by Randen tram or Nishiki Market by subway. Plenty of convenience stores nearby let you withdraw cash and buy snacks. The space itself is very cute. There's a kitchen for simple meals, though we didn't cook because Kyoto's food scene had so much to offer. We did make use of the big refrigerator and the microwave. The shower was great, with water pressure so strong it felt like a spa treatment, and the AC worked well, especially on hotter days. Wifi was quick and steady. There were plenty of guides around the house for trip planning, and bikes to rent, which we skipped because public transportation was so convenient. A coin-operated washing machine (300 yen a load) and a free dryer were available. Because we qualified for a longer stay, our towels were changed once midway, which was a nice touch. The owner/manager was very responsive over WhatsApp and even arranged a late check-in. Don't forget there's a 400 yen per person per night tourist tax, collected in cash at some point, so stop by the nearby 7-Eleven for cash.

There were a couple of minor inconveniences. Space was slightly tight for all our suitcases since they aren't allowed on the second floor, but we made do, and houses in Japan tend to run small anyway. There also weren't many hanging hooks, and the only wardrobe-esque area was at the entrance, so we couldn't hang many things. Neither affected our stay much.

Tout était comme indiqué, une maison typique japonaise avec tout son charme. Nous avons adorés passer notre séjour à cette adresse, nous y reviendrons avec grand plaisir! Le propriétaire était très gentil et réactif à nos demandes. Un must si vous voulez vous rendre à Kyoto

It was a traditional Japanese home. Lovely location and lay out. Great to have washer and dryer.

Bikes had flat tyres. Rail upstairs is broken and dangerous
